“Great location. Tourist-type of hotel”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

I stayed at the Olive Tree for 3 nights. I was a member of a tourist group. Our group was well accommodated. The hotel provided wake up calls, luggage assistance, concierge, meeting rooms and a buffet. The room was nice. Good size. Mini frig. A small lock-safe. Our bathroom was not very clean and we had no face cloths. I ate at the Buffet everyday for both breakfast and dinner. I didn't really like the food. The buffet did have a large selection; I just didn't find it tasty or well cooked. However, the dessert chief was wonderful. An amazing and yummy display of cakes, pies, tarts, etc. There is a separate bar/café on site with a menu. Cozy atmosphere. The hotel's location is great. Safe neighborhood. It is near other large hotels with restaurants and shops. It is a short walk from the hotel to the local shopping area. A 15 min walk to old Jerusalem. I saw a comment regarding that there is no pool. The hotel has a contract with another place for guest to have free gym and pool use. The hotel has Wi-Fi but it is really only for lobby use. It is very expensive to use it in the room. I read or watched TV at night. Our room had a nice tv and it had a good cable selection- English, Russian, Hebrew Movies and shows. I would recommend this hotel because it met my needs and the staff was professional and helpful.

The Olive Tree Hotel is nicely located in Jerusalem. It is clean and the rooms are comfortable.
The restaurant offers a wonderful buffet and we found it to be quite tasty.
The halls were rather hot, but our room was cool and nicely appointed.

Food was excellent, with many choices. Room was very comfortable and bathroom was spotless. Would have appreciated washcloths!. EO onsite hosts were terrific, full of info and very helpful. Free wi fi in lobby area was a plus. Efficient check in process.

We were very please with this choice by our tour company. We were pleased with our room and the food. Location was pretty good, although we never walked to anything. No pool on site adn we didn't have time to check out how to get to the pool.

After a busy day taking in Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea, we stayed here overnight as a part of a cruise package. Although there were a lot of us in our party, the staff were efficient and we were not kept waiting in the foyer as we arrived. We soon got to our room which was very clean, comfortable and welcoming. Our buffet evening meal was wholesome and plentiful with a good variety and, just as we hoped, typically Israeli. The bar prices were very reasonable. A really enjoyable stay albeit rather brief.

The Olive Tree Hotel caters to tour bus groups, for which it includes huge breakfast and dinner buffets of Mediterranean cuisine. The food selections include a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. The main course and dessert selections are of lower quality, but overall for Israel, the food is very good.

The rooms are very clean and have exceedingly great shower pressure, as well as a retractable bathtub laundry cord. The soundproofing between rooms leaves a lot to be desired, and a local minaret blasts prayers five times daily, obviating the need for a wake up call and disturbing your sleep for such a prolonged period that it is hard to go back to sleep. Rooms near the elevators and the communal ice machine/ironing room could present additional noise issues.

The WiFi reception is poor and is only free in the lobby. Consequently, large numbers of guests fill every available seat with various electronics, creating a less than relaxing atmospher in the lobby and lounge. Disconnections are many.

The lobby shops are overpriced, and the store outside the entrance is even worse. One store does sell US postage for post cards in the lobby area and is quite convenient. Shop hours vary with market demand. There is a supermarket with an outdoor big screen television very closeby. Turn left out the front door. Go down the hill and make a left onto the street going up the hill behind the buildings across the street from the Olive Tree. Bear left at the fork and make your first right. You will see the big screen TV in front of the store down the street. Ask for 8 packs of 1.5 liter water bottles for a bargain. You should be drinking at least two per day to avoid dehydration, and water is otherwise very expensive.

The hotel is about 10 minutes from the Old City by foot and the streets aren't all easily walkable. Bring flats or wedges. Heels don't do well in Israeli streets.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor far from the elevators, ironing room/ice machines. The rear of the h...

The only negative thing about this hotel is no Wife in the rooms. You have to be in the lobby to use the wife and it is slow. The food was good and had a lot of variety. Air conditioning is not available in March but was cool at night. If you like windows open make sure you have a room with a window.
