Rooms are small, but ok; food is very varied but not of the best quality, loby looks like a packed east Jerusalem bazar, which doesn't give you a very pleasant feeling. the location is a major minus since it's located far from downtown Jerusalem.

Like many other reviewers, I stayed here with a tour group. It was by far the best hotel we stayed in during our tour of Israel. I would recommend it.

Even though we didn't choose this hotel ourselves because it was part of the tour, we recommend it one hundred percent. Excellent food, staff very knowledgeable and nice appointed rooms, made our stay magical in the Holy Land.

We stayed here with a group of 90 and you did not feel like it. They had three separate dining areas for the breakfast and dinner. The food was very good with lots of choices.. Wine and coffee were extra at dinner by coffee was included with breakfast. There was a nice lounge and bar for the evening hours , plenty of sitting areas a computer area downstairs in P-1 level (min was 1 hour/ $9) but you could sign on and off for 24 hours.
This was walking distance to the old walls and there was another nice hotel a block away with an outdoor sitting area. (They didnt have one here) There is a pool covered in your stay but its a 20 min cab ride away (30 sheckels each way) I didnt go but some in our group did and enjoyed it.
The rooms were large, thick towels, very comfy beds, no fridge coffee pot or shampoo. There was a flat screen tv in the room you could access internet on. Nice cool air cond. There was an ironing room on each floor. There were hairdryers in each room. Overall a great place to stay.

I was part of a tour group of 137 who stayed at this hotel in March. My picky mother and I both enjoyed our stay. The staff in the lower dining room went out of their way to ensure our comfort.
The food was plentiful but with little seasoning except chili-type peppers. I noticed that the food in our previous hotel also had little seasonings so this is probably standard for Israel.
For first-timers like me a note: hotels in Israel have 'ironing rooms' instead of individual irons in your room.Perhaps American- based hotels have a different set-up.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here as part of a group tour, which the hotel obviously caters to. The rooms were clean and good size. Breakfast buffet was awesome, tho pretty much the same every day. Dinner buffet was also awesome, particularly desserts. Don't know what the restaurant was like for independent guests, but the buffets were really good, so can assume cook to order food would be at least as good or probably better.

Location was good - local grocery stores nearby & a 15 min walk to the old town (Damascus Gate).

Internet access wasn't free ($15/24 hrs, shorter times available), but you got to bring a keyboard to your room & use the bigscreen TV for the display, which was convenient & eliminated waiting in line.

Olive Tree Hotel

WARNING: this hotel advertises free internet, however the minimum actual charge is 9 USD for an hour. When the front desk was asked about this their response was essentially “so what”

The hotel is new and clean, the housekeeping staff competent.

Bell staff and wait staff are attentive and both have a distinctive livery.

You may have the impression there are grounds or a garden here, the only things outside the hotel are pavement and tour buses. It is reasonably close to the old city.

The food is quite good both in quality and especially variety, many very good salads.

The queen beds are two singles pushed together, even having separate bed linen on each half. Rooms are small but adequate.

Bathroom toiletries and towels are 2 or 3 star quality at best.

Surprisingly the olive wood and souvenir shop just outside the front door has some of the better prices for the carvings in Jerusalem. They are made in Bethlehem.

Summary: a slightly more than adequate hotel with little regard for truth in advertising.
