The rooms are badly kept, with cheap, stained furniture. Sheets and towels are ok, though one of the sheets was dirty. Toiletries are of the lowest possible quality. Common areas feel rancid.
The hotel does have a nice view, and staff is friendly, but that doesn't justify to stay here.

Our stay was definitely unpleasant.

The hotel is smaller so you get to know everyone at the front desk and they are very polite. Breakfast is an incredible assortment of foods each day plus they make omlets and pancakes to order each day. Old city is only about a 15 min walk to Jaffa or Zion gate. Liberty Park is about a 5 min walk. We definitely go back.

:I love this place !

I'm traveling for 6 months. We are two months in. I stayed with my wife and sister. We took two rooms.

This is a guest house - not a hotel. You wyou'llill not find tv's, mini bars, etc.

You will find the most welcoming people ready to go the extra mile. You'll find very clean, comfortable rooms with air conditioners. Also cool lounge rooms, terraces with views.

You'll find a fantastic breakfast. Ask for an omelette and the chef cooks it on the spot.

The location is prefect. Good views, closer to Jaffa gate, weak to German colony, etc.

The rates are very reasonable.

Best place we have stayed (apart from family and friends of course).

I stayed at St. Andrews Scottish guesthouse together with my brother and parents in 3 separate rooms for a family reunion. This is a small guest house, with about 20 rooms. There is no elevator. The rooms have different layouts and sizes, so be sure to see the room before you pay for it. The view from some rooms and from the balcony on the 2nd floor is spectacular. The guest house is facing Jerusalem's old city. You can easily walk from the guest house to many place in the center of Jerusalem. For example, the YMCA is about 10 minutes away by foot.

I had to wait about 10 minutes for the person at the front desk to arrive on the first day, because he was busy talking on his cell phone in another floor. At all other times there was a person at the front desk.

Beware of the antique hot water system. I had to run the hot water for about 10 minutes before I could take a shower.

Breakfast is served in the dining room on the first floor. There is a wide selection of cold and hot food. The cook can make your eggs any way you like. There is a self-service orange juicer that produces fresh yummy juice.

The rooms are basic and clean. There are no amenities like swimming pool or gym.

I spent 4 nights here in a nice double room facing the Old City. Arrived on Sunday morning while services were being held in the church, which was a nice way to set the scene for visiting the Old City. Reception was friendly. Room wasn't luxurious or hugely spacious. but clean and comfortable. I enjoyed looking out from our balcony. Wifi was free and accessible in the rooms and downstairs. The Old City is about 10 minutes walk at the most depending on which gate you go to. Yemin Moshe, the King David hotel and YMCA are even closer. Breakfast was good - they serve eggs and pancakes to order and they have a machine for fresh orange juice. Even though it wasn't the most luxurious hotel, I enjoyed the ambiance of the building and the location immensely and would stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms have either a Garden view or an Old City view. It's worth the little extra to have the Ol...

We (two 50+ women) spent a very memorable overnight stay at this guest house. We chose St Andrews as we were looking for something more interesting than just another hotel, within easy access to the old city and not too far from the major attractions.
The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean, with a kettle and coffee and tea. The beds were extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows. We had a back garden facing view which didn't bother us as it was peaceful and quiet. The bathroom was small but adequate. The shower took a few minutes to heat up.
The staff were helpful and very pleasant. The chef in the dining room was friendly and chatty and made us excellant cappucino, and omlettes of our choice. The freshly squeezed orange juice was a great start to a very warm day. The breakfast was varied and tasty with plenty of fresh fruits, cheeses, cereals etc. (The bread wasn't great but there was a toaster...)
The view is "to die for".Amazing! The gardens are beautifully cared for and lit up at night with coloured lights. There is outdoor seating on all the floors and in the back garden, and coffee and tea is complementary in all the public areas until mid-night. Wi-fi is free throughout the building.
The walk to the old city took about 10-15 minutes. The German Colony is 5 minutes away as is Yemin Moshe. The bus to the the New City runs just outside on Emek Refaim. Very convenient.
We thouroughly enjoyed staying at the Scottish Guest House and would definately return.
Would have given this place 5* but there is no lift which could be a problem for elderly or handicapped guests.
***The bedroom windows had no shutters, and the curtains were not sufficiently dark to prevent the light from streaming in early in the morning. Bring eye covers!
