“Thank you Lord!”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

We first came around 10 am, and found a huge crowd, so our tour guide decided to bring us to another location and return around 6 pm. we came back after6 pm, and indeed it was not as crowded, and we managed to visit every corner of the church including Jesus Tomb. We were so lucky that we didn't have to cue for hours, and that was a very special moment indeed. Thank you Lord for giving us this opportunity. It is recommendable to visit, but avoid the mornings or early afternoon.

“Truly overwhelming”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

This is a HUGE church encompassing many things for Christians. The church includes the mount (Golgatha) where Christ was crucified, and you able to touch the rock; what is believed to be his tomb is enclosed in a Byzantine chapel. There are huge lines everywhere waiting to visit each part of the church.

“Wow #2.”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

What is so impressive about the Church is how understated and religiously chaotic every inch of the site appears to be. Whether or not this is indeed the actual site of Jesus' last days, it is unquestionably the center for its religious significance. The destination of pilgrims from all over the world, it is passionately crowded, and as spiritual as the incense that permeates every crevice. One could spend years taking in the significance of each corner, each icon, each nook. Going with a guide or detailed guidebook is recommended so that you can experience the history and significance of each area of the church.

“A deeply spiritual place, no matter what your religious beliefs.”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

This is one of, if not THE holiest site for Christians. Within the church is the Stone of the Anointing, the place said to be where Jesus was prepared for burial. The rock upon which Jesus is said to have been crucified, and the Edicule,, upon which Jesus is said to have been placed after the crucifixion. There are other spiritual items in here as well; they are too numerous to mention. You walk around and are awe stricken by the clear adoration of those all around you. The feelings of the believers exude into the space and uplift anyone's spirit, whether that person be Christian or not. If you are in Jerusalem, you must go.

“Big crowds, but amazing to see the devotion & people”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

So this is on everyone's itinerary, so it is packed. They try to move you through and some of the steps are tough for some folks, but part of the experience is seeing all the different nationalities of church groups converging to experience this special place. Don't count on getting a special picture without tourists in it. Just enjoy the experience.
