An evangelical Christian perspective of the garden tomb. really well maintained , beautiful gardens and quiet to meditate. Also to see the hill like a skull. As it has been said before this how the tomb should be, even if the actual tomb is most likely inside the Church of the Holy sepulchre. Refreshing for the body and soul.

Always a good feeling when visiting at the Garden Tomb of Christ. The place of the skull also mentioned in the Bible can be seen here while visiting in the garden. The Bible comes alive when you can see these sites with your own eyes. 2000 years passed by but the Holy sites have been preserved by God.

We were walking downhill toward the Damascus Gate to the Old City when we noticed a sign on the right-hand side of the street for the Garden Tomb. We followed an alley with high stone walls and were pleasantly surprised to find such a beautiful spot there amid the busy surrounding area. It was a lovely open space with beautiful gardens, trees, pathways, and various levels with benches for visitors to relax, meditate or pray. I felt peace here. A tomb is carved into the limestone cliff. Despite the controversy as to the historical/religious/archeological importance of this site, it still provided a very spiritual, peaceful moment in an otherwise hectic day. I would not necessarily go out of my way to visit this site, but I am very glad we accidently fell upon it and I did savor the experience.

A tremendous finish to our journey; a quiet garden to reflect on what the empty tomb means to Christians around the world.

A lovely setting staffed by knowledgable and friendly guides. (Ours came from Essex).
She gave a careful and balanced talk about the known methodology of Roman crucifixion, discussed the quarry with the skull-like rock formation, discussed the garden aspects with the water supply and wine press, etc., but was not dogmatic about the detail. After all, she said, it is not important where the Lord Jesus died and was buried, but that he rose again. The tomb can be accessed, and there is a gift shop which had some of the nicest and most reasonably priced souvenirs we encountered on the trip.
Word of warning. A number of our party went back on the Sunday afternoon in the few spare hours we had....it was closed.
