“Must”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

Yad Vashem is not exactly a museum. It is also educational and research center dedicated to everything connected to Holocaust. Though it has a museum exhibition in its traditional form, there are memorial and research parts in the same compound. If you have Jewish roots you may contribute to their research work by giving them the names of your relatives perished during the Holocaust. You can also try to track your family history by supplying your family name and the place where it lived.

“Excellent museum”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

You need a guide (or maybe the audio that they rent). Otherwise it may be a little overwhelming and it would be easy to miss the theme of the structure and approach used in presenting the material.

“Very relevant and special memorial”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

After visiting the Holocaust museum in Washington DC we weren't sure how Yad Vashem would compare. This memorial is actually larger than the DC memorial has both inside and outside exhibits (beautiful grounds) and covers the Holocaust more from a perspective that covers all the different countries that were affected. This museum has been built with thought in every detail, from the shape of the building and its hallways to the significance of sculptures. Although we had a personal guide for this, they do offer head sets for a self guided tour, there is a cafeteria, book store, free lockers for storing coats etc, but no photos are allowed inside. This is a free museum, but be prepared to spend 3-4 hours both inside and out here, it's worth the investment in time.

“It is a must see if you come to Jerusalem”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

The day and time we visit it: Too many people and therefor it was hardly room to breathe!
An very nice building, the arquitect should be applauded for his great Work. The surrandings, the grounds are very well done as well. An incredible museum. Of course very sad but I must say somber. Something that we all must learn about and try to understand. So moving, so emotional, so horrific and yet so real.
The most moving experience is the memorial of the children of the Holocaust. Do not miss!
