I was a little reluctant to visit this site but am so glad I did. It charts the whole history of the holocaust with the light in the roof furthest away at the point where the holocaust was at its worst. Almost too much to take in in just one visit and coming out into the light onto a splendid sight of Jerusalem with birds singing was so emotional. Tears in my eyes at the Children's memorial and was privileged to hear the mournful sound of a young conscript violinist on exiting.
Everyone should visit hear to understand just how hateful man's inhumanity to man can be

There are no words to describe what happened, and this is a decent attempt at explaining it. I've been to other museums like it, and thought they did a better job. There is maybe just a little too much here to absorb in one trip.

I've been to Yad Vashem many times, as I coordinate an exchange program between American and Israeli students. Each time I walk out with new knowledge. The docents are usually terrific and they are a plethora of information. However, if you pay attention to detail, you could do the tour on your own and take your time to read the captions under displays and to listen and watch testimonials.

Aside from the historical information, artifacts and testimonials, even the architecture of the museum is important. I don't want to give anything away, but pay attention to the zig zag manner in which you move through the galleries and the exit of the museum. It's very symbolic.

The very very best tour guide I have ever had in a museum like this. Starting with the lives of people before they were imprisoned is so honouring! They were fascinating people, they were not just statistics, this memorial brings the courage and dignity of the jewish people to the fore!

I walked in shaking and left with tears in my eyes. The exhibit and design of the museum are done to show the horrors of this time period. Our guide was terrific and knew alot of history I am happy I went to see this because it relights a candle in your Jewish soul of the countless souls that were killed during this time and that we have to remember this so it never happens again.
