We stayed in this wonderful place for two nights in early March 2014 while touring Jerusalem. The location is wonderful for a tourist because it is just three short blocks to the Damascus Gate. It is easy to go into the old city for even short excursions and return several times a day if you wish to rest. The building is old but well maintained and quite atmospheric. Rooms are spacious, ceilings are high, and views from the rooms are interesting. The restaurant has excellent Palestinian food, with very fresh, wonderful flavors. It is obviously popular with local guests as well as tourists. The staff is very accommodating - they arranged an English-speaking guide for us on very short notice - and were most helpful throughout our stay. I strongly recommend the hotel as an authentic introduction to Jerusalem.

I really liked this place. It's such a cool and unique hotel. There are shared sitting rooms throughout and it's a cute little castle-looking hotel. The rooms are amazing. There are a few reasons I didn't give it 5 stars. One, the bathroom (in my room at least) was so narrow that I could barely use the toilet and I'm only 5'3". My knees hardly fit. If you are taller, you will seriously need to sit backwards on the toilet!! Two, the wifi doesn't work in many of the rooms (not really a big deal). Three, the restaurant staff is kind of jerky. Four, the lunch and dinner foods aren't great, but breakfast was good. Five, The room doors are old and shaky and not terribly safe, however, there is someone at the front desk 24-7. Six, there's not a lot of privacy. You can hear other guests talking, and even flushing the toilets. I think it's because it's an old drafty castle-like building. All that being said, I would stay again. The location is right next to the main bus station and across the street from the Damascus Gate. The rooms are super cool, the front desk staff is helpful, and it's just so darned unique.

I stayed here in December and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was warm and comfy. The best part is the restaurant. Great food and atmosphere. It was very close to the old city/ so close that I could pop back to rest and go out again (for us Jerusalem was a bit tiring!)

Great location - 2 minute walk to Damascus Gate (Old City) and very close to the new tramway (from where you can to Jaffa Street & West Jerusalem in 5 mins). The restaurant / cafe / bar is excellent - fresh, local, Palestinian cuisine. Much used by journalists, activists, writers, diplomats etc., so a good place to meet people and find out what's happening. Good place to relax in the evening. Taybeh beer, and often live music at the weekend. Rooms are all clean and comfortable, and there's free wifi throughout. Highly recommended.

Stayed here a few years ago. It was my first time to Jerusalem. I loved the location. It's a very short walk to Damascus Gate. Rooms are OK. It's a bit pricey for the value but the staff is really nice and they have a very nice restaurant and bar area on a terrace out front of the hotel. I really liked the breakfast. They also have a tour guide working for a company that you can book small group tours to various locations in Israel and the West Bank. I did the half day trip to Bethlehem and a full day trip to Nablus. I had a great time, although I would have wanted to stay another couple of hours in Bethlehem.

Room Tip: There's a little mosque behind the hotel that will wake you up but that's not bad when you h...

The only thing good about this small hotel is the location which is fairly close to the Damascus gate.
A part for this, it is a very poor value for money proposition .
There is no elevator.
The rooms are gloomy, and noisy. We came here in December and the heating system was not working. We felt cold in our room.
Toilets are very small.
Forget breakfast in the morning. Very poor food and terrible coffee.

This is the most remarkable place I have ever been in. The outside belies what is inside - a veritable Alladin's Cave of beautiful architective and furinshings from a bygone era. The rooms are large and the Wifi excellent. I am not sure about parking but you don't want a car in Jerusalem. The alternative political jerusalem tour starts here and is a must to understand what is going on politically in Israel. On a previous visit to Jerusalem I stayed in a high rise hotel which was one of the worst experiences of my travels. In contrast this hotel is one of the best. There is a restuarant as part of the hotel and it seems to be a destination point in itself.
