We went to the Herzl museum on Mt Herzl and afterwards walked around the well-tended military cemetery. We liked them both very much.

wonderfully laid out with many opportunities to reflect on those who gave their lives for Israel. Take a few small stones with you to honour these special people.

“Mount Herzl”

When you visit Mount Herzl - and it is a must - not only you see the graves and the beautiful greenery around, but before everything you have to visit the museum there. It tells you all about Herzl and his vision of the Israel State. I was extremely moved (I think I even cried). It is a show of one actor (playing Herzl) which you cannot and shouldn't miss when you are in Jerusalem! You will certainly understand better why Israel is so much part of us.

“Poor customer service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2013

The museum is only by reservation. We called 3x and they did not answer. You can visit the outdoor Herzl grave site, but they were out of English guides. All on all a poor visit. Poor signage. The adjacent military cemetery is also adjacent, but again poor signage for non Hebrew readers.

“Cool and peaceful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2013

Mount Herzl is not what many visitors expect before their first trip to Israel. It is covered with huge trees, and is cool, hilly, and quiet. It is a world away from the hustle-bustle of the city, even though it's right next door. It was a beautiful place to walk with the fragrance of warm evergreens in the air.
