This is a very moving place. You reallize that the Israel of today didn't come with out a lot of sacrifice. Many lives were given in order to bring back the dream of modern Zionism

This is an Oasis of tranquillity, peaceful, beautifully kept gardens and a fitting monument to those who created the Israel that we know. It is well worth a visit and the Jerusalem Light railway drops you off and the gates.

Excellent video in lovely room. The gardens and monuments were set in tasteful surroundings. Like most places of interest it is very easy too find.

I love to jog through the Jerusalem forest and then enter the Mount Herzl cemetery near the entrance to Yad Vashem along a path describing the creation of the State of Israel from 1933 through 1948. Once in the cemetery we visit the grave site of the leaders of the nation and some young soldiers gravesites and then jog down the perimeter road to Herzl St. It is a great jog and memorial visit.

In most countries I've visited the military cemeteries consist of rows and rows of crosses or stars-of-david. Mt. Herzl military cemetery is different. It's simple and impressive design is appropriate for burial of the nation's great leaders among those who fought and died protecting the country.
It is also near to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust museum, but seeing both on one day may be too much to handle.
