Owner description: Following two devastating wars and 20 years of enemy occupation, the Jewish Quarter of Old Jerusalem was reconstructed with great attention to harmonious architectural detail. The highlight of the quarter is the excavation of the Cardo, the ancient Roman market street.

“Quality shopping”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

These authentic items in cool Jewish shops are much better quality and made in Israel, not China. Better shopping here than in the other quarters!

The people who live there are the most calmest beautiful loving couple that I have ever met. I thank them for my experience of being there the quarter is beautiful and quiet.

“Must visit the old city”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

You cannot say that you visited Jerusalem without having visited this part of the Old City. The old "Churva" synagogue (destroyed by the Jordanian and recently rebuilt), the Cardo, the remains of the city wall from King David's period, etc. Are a must.

“Renewed and reinvigorated”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

The Jewish Quarter of the Old City had to be rebuilt after wartime damage. Much ancient history remains but what parts of it lack in age is more than made up for by its sympathetic architecture and shady, welcoming squares and alleyways.

This is a place to shop for authentic Judaica and to sample and savour the characters, sights and indeed sites of this part of the Old City. To us it felt the friendliest part of the Old City and there was a warmth and exuberance we found there which was contagious.A great place to visit and a good place to rest weary feet!

“Interesting”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

One of the four Quarters in Jerusalem. Best way to see and learn is with a tour guide.
Too many shops with way too many people trying to show you something that appeared to be mass produced because the same items were everywhere!
Each of the Quarters could use a good strong power washing, trash cans and regular clean up, as well as general repair to broken windows and doors.
An early morning stroll before the crowds set in is fascinating as bakers are rolling out their rolls and Halvah and spice shops are being stocked up.
