“Great food, great host”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2014 via mobile

I contacted Hila by email to make reservation. She was very pleasant from the beginning . Her very classy messages and menu information made me confident to place the required deposit. No surprise, she was very helpful communicating with us since our arrival to Jerusalem , and arranging to meet us. The food was amazing! Great variety of every flavor that we wanted to discover in a new country. Service from Hila and her team is really wonderful. Her house is in a very beatufil area of Jerusalem. What a pleasant night, sharing the table with another family, but still with the chance of an intimate dinner. If you plan to visit Jerusalem, do not miss the chance of a dinner at her house. Email Hila in advance. This is not an inexpensive dinner, but 100% worthy .

Dear Kargol
thank you for your comments. It's curious that you write you 'visited ' in October and took 4 months to write a comment that you didnt visit, because we didnt answer your inquiry.
We are shomer shabbat and thus don't answer on Shabbat if you asked for a reservation that day.
We reply to all coherent messages . We are a private dining experience and thus the only way to make reserations is by phone or email, thus we don't ignore or take lightly your time . We in fact appreciate your comment as an opportunity to show what a spoons experience is..
We do hope that you'll try another time so that you too can understand why we enjoy positive reviews.
Right now we're on sabbatical writing the SPOONS book, and have left a phone message stating this, and suggesting guests make contact via email and will try again
We hope you'll try again in May and we'd be delighted to host you.

“Delicious & Delightful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 December 2013

We had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Spoons. It is rare that it is a pleasure to book a table at a restaurant, but our communication with Hila, the owner, prior to our arrival, really made us look forward to our visit. Once we got there, we were blown away by the staff's warm and attentive welcoming, the delicious food and wine and the unique historical location. Spoons is located in Hila's beautiful old house in Yemin Moshe, with spectacular views overlooking the old city. When we arrived we were offered bubbly wine on the roof deck and an introduction to the history of this part of Jerusalem. There were about 15 guests that night, including couples and families, and we all had nice and individually tailored tables. The food was outstanding. After amuse-bouches and lovely soup, we had ordered two starters and two mains in advance (tough choices had to be made) - but we got a platter with all the starters that were cooked that night, including beautiful homemade msbacha, white fish carpaccio, chargrilled eggplant with tehina, pears & kosher bracciola - all fabulous. We could have stopped there, but thankfully the creative and delicious basil/arak sorbet was a fantastic digestive before attacking slow cooked lamb with saffron and apricots, and finishing it all off with passionfruit tart with date and almond sorbet. Everything paired with wonderful local wines and some herbal tea. Absolutely fantastic (and even better - all kosher!). Highly recommended for any foodies or others who have a special occasion coming up!

“Great food and intimate setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 December 2013

Had dinner at Spoons with a large group. The setting, in an old house, was very charming and inviting. The food and service were both magnificent and the owner took time to sit and talk with us at length.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2013

Had the opportunity to dine here with a group organised by the Israel - Australia Chamber of Commerce. I cannot comment on the price as it was included in our trip. But in every other respect it was a truly wonderful experience, from the pre-dinner rooftop drinkies and nibblies, to the amazing dinner-table spread which was far more than any of us could eat. Loved the venue, food, service (one of my colleagues loved the hand-wash in the bathroom), everything about it. If you get an opportunity to dine here, do it.
