The City Hotel is a small modest hotel above a 24/7 supermarket, which may seem tacky but is great for travelers who need snacks and odds and ends during their hotel stay . The rooms are small but modern. The location is probably the most central for tourists interested in visiting the Old City and the numerous shops and restaurants in West Jerusalem. The luxury Mamilla shopping mall is across the street. The mall has several nice restaurants with outside cafes and terrace eating areas that overlook the city. The Mamilla mall leads after a 5 minute walk directly to the Jaffa Gate of the Old City. We especially appreciated the hotel manager (also the supermarket manager) who allowed us to stay a a couple hours extra on departure day because we had an evening flight. No elevator though to the first floor rooms but this was not a problem for us.

Room Tip: If you get a room with the view of the main street, you get to see people coming and going at all ho...

Stayed here 2 days ago. Very central location, extremely good value . Perfectly adequate. Clean rooms , 24 hour supermarket below for all your needs . I highly recommend this hotel for anyome that is looking for good value in the heart of jerusalem . Very nice management too, they go out of their way to assist.

A nice and simple hotel worth of your money, above a 0-24 shop which has everything you will need. The old city is just a few minutes walk. Gidon, the owner is very kind and helpful - he was very flexible and understanding when we had illness troubles.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street have more light and good view, but more noise due to the traffic (you might...

Use "hotel" loosely - its more like a private room in a hostel.

There is no hotel front desk or reception - it's only 7 rooms run next door by the Grocery store.

The staff at the Grocery store (the person at the grocery check out cash register is the person who checks you into the rooms) were exceptionally rude.

When asked why we couldn't get wifi, the answer was "I can't help you , I just work here". When told we paid for a room with wifi, answer was "sorry, its not working".

They put the grocery customers first, and you have to wait to get any help.

There is no wifi in the rooms or common area hall (even though it's advertised as wifi in all areas) - there is only wifi in the grocery store next door.

The room was open when we arrived, and it was FILTHY. The floor had not been swept or mopped clean in a while upon check-in. The bathroom was mouldy. The sheets were old, and the mattress poor.

The TV did not work, let alone have "satellite channels", as advertised.

The room was tiny.

Overall, an unpleasant experience, and for the price paid ($100 per night), it was definitely NOT worth it - go elsewhere!

Room Tip: There are only 7 rooms, I don't think there were any "good" rooms, but I understand th...

The hotel has no reception so ask to the cashier at supermarket which is the same owner.

As said, it is not a hotel, just a few rooms managed by the supermarket owners. The location is great to explore both the new and the old city. There are nice bars and restaurants nearby. Just walking distance from Jaffa gate. We had room 102 which is very comfortable and has a great view! The service was not great though. They charged us a difference price from what we saw at the website where we booked it, claiming that the exchange rate is changing all the time and they charge you at the rate of the arrival day. Also they were usually busy with the supermarket so it was hard to get help from them.

Room Tip: 102 has a great view

It is not an hotel but some rooms well cleaned and modern. The best quality if this "hotel" is its position: near every place you want to reach and visit in Jerusalem. It is near the Jaffa Gate (3 minutes walking) and near a number of restourants and pubs in the modern part of the city. But do not consider it an hotel! The hall is the supermarket below with the good thing that you Can buy what you need whenever you like. Be carefull that Nesher (group
Taxi) Can be reserved and pass because the guys of the hotel prefer private taxi and tend to distract you from using cheaper travelling.
