“Great location”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

My wife and I stayed at the Arthur in Jerusalem in October 2013. Its all about location, and if you want to hit the ground running in Jerusalem and only have a short time to stay then this is the place to stay! Right in the middle of everything at the bottom of Ben Y'huda mall. This is a new location for The Atlas Group and this hotel is very warm, relaxing and welcoming. Rooms are comfortable and fresh. Ayala and her staff are always friendly and ready for a big smile when you return from a busy day bashing the pavement around this amazing city. Breakfast is also worth mentioning as very comprehensive and healthy. Also there is no request too big for the kitchen as they will do their best to meet any special requirements. One of the advantages of staying at a boutique hotel, you are treated as a guest and not a number. Kudos Atlas. A great place to stay.

My wife, sister-in-law and I spent a week, in two rooms, at the Atlas Hotel Arthur in October of 2013. We were in Israel for a family wedding, and chose the Arthur from sites online and based on a good experience during a prior stay at an Atlas hotel (the Harmony) in Jerusalem in 2011. While in Tel Aviv we stayed at a sister property, the Cinema at Kikar Dizengoff.

First the positive, and it's almost all positive. The Arthur is in what appears to be a brand new beautiful multistory building, nestled on a pedestrian-only street smack dab between the Jaffa Road and Ben Yahuda. It's right where you want to be. Stretching down Ben Yahuda are bars and cafes that are bustling all night. If you want to be in the action, this is the spot. Next, the price of the room was very reasonable for a hotel in Israel, and includes not only the normal buffet breakfast, but wine and snacks at a daily afternoon happy hour. The Jaffa Gate and the Old City is a fifteen minute and very doable walk in one direction, and the Mahane Yahuda market a shorter walk the other way. Restaurants right outside your door. Most importantly, the staff is terrific, as they are at all of the Atlas hotels. We had a terrific clerk in the afternoon and evening at the front desk (I think her name was Doreen), and she was as cheerful and helpful as can be. She got us difficult to obtain tickets, and called our next hotel to explain why we were so enamored of the Arthur that we were staying an extra night. The hotel manager (whose name was, I think, Alina) talked with us at length each day, took a genuine interest in our welfare, and was just great. They're simply superior staff.

One more positive. We have been in Israel many times, being tourists and visiting family, and stayed in many different hotels. Many of the best charge not only for the room, but for anything else that they can. With Atlas, all the amenities are free. Parking, internet, bikes, breakfast, fruit in bowls, happy hour with wine. They treat you like family.

Now the negative, and it isn't much. The hotel is cool, and in it's way quite luxurious. Rooms are neat and well furnished, but small. Also, the streets around the Arthur are small, tight, and not for the faint of heart if you're driving. The hotel has no parking, so you have to park at the nearly companion hotel (and that's so limited that you can hardly believe it), but they have a golf cart that shuttles you back and forth with your luggage. That's a challenge, but this is the oldest city in the world, so some limitation is to be expected.

Overall, I like all of the Atlas hotels, and this is one of the very nicest of them. For the money, and maybe for even more, no better choice.

I felt compelled to review this place on account of the wide range of review scores. Note that the hotel has a disproportionate number of glowing first time reviewers; always something to be wary of.

The big downside of this hotel is the noise at night. I am by no means and light sleeper and, despite staying on one of the upper floors, was blown away by how loud the music from the bars below is. This is a new hotel, but it seems to me that a big error was made by not buying soundproof glass for the windows. It is far and away the noisiest hotel I have ever encountered.

Although centrally located, there is a logistical problem getting to it as it is in a pedestrian area. the hotel provides a golf cart to ferry guests from their sister hotel, Harmony, but it's a bit of a pain. The walk from the hotel to the Jaffa Gate is about 10-15 minutes.

On the plus side, the room was well appointed, if small, with a nice bathroom (although, again, small). The breakfast was quite good. If you stay here I would recommend going to Mona restaurant nearby (which was suggested by the hotel) for a meal - great food.

Room Tip: Stay on the upper floors, as far away from the street as possible!

Terrific boutique hotel. Good location, great hospitality and although a bit on the small size, very nice rooms. Be sure to request a room facing the back of the hotel for a quiet night sleep. Good breakfast and relaxing happy hour with good wines and snacks. Staff were all very nice which was a big plus.

Having travelled all over Israel this hotel stands out as one of the best I visited. The staff was very helpful, efficient and friendly. The owner personally greets guests and visits with them. The food, especially the breakfasts, is amazing. I especially appreciated the happy hour, with wine and delicious snacks between 5-7 pm. The hotel is close to everything you could require, being located in a pedestrian square lined with shops and restaurants of all kinds. The walk to the Old City is only about 10 minutes. Make sure to call ahead of time to get the parking instructions. It was no problem, but had we not called, we would have been hard pressed to find parking or get to the hotel from the street. My only tiny issue was an unfortunately placed pillar in our room. Other than that it was perfect!

When I checked out of this amazing hotel I hugged the receptionist for her amazing service ( never done that before) had the Chef Orri's e-mail address and had invited him to South Afirica, and could not fault one thing in our 4 night stay. The breakfasts and afternoon teas are scrumptious, all prepared by Orri and his team. The position of this hotel is fantastic as you can walk to the old city.
The staff of this hotel can not do enough for you!! Thank you Arthur hotel for making our stay memorable.
