“Great service and well located”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

We spent 5 nights here in May 2014. The room was large but bathroom could have been a bit bigger and a little bit cleaner. We were on the second floor and on the corner facing the road. No issue with noise. Reception staff - especially Nirvana, were fantastic. The breakfasts were very good. We had also organised with Nirvana for an airport pickup and drop off service which worked very well. Overall, a good basic hotel at a reasonable price with excellent service that is located close to the old city.

Nice and big room. Very friendly staff, also near the old city.
What I didn't like was the parking, sometimes very hard to park and others times the gate closes too early, so you need to ask at the reception to open it.

Room Tip: Is in the muslin side. If you don't have a problem it that is fine.

My husband and I stayed at the National Hotel in Jerusalem for 10 days and really enjoyed our stay. I am very particular about cleanliness and found this hotel to exceed even my higher than average expectations. The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel right at home. They were very attentive and responsive to our every need. The restaurant on the roof provided a very pleasant environment for every meal. The breakfast buffet was exceptional and the dinner we had there scrumptious. I would highly recommend this hotel.

What can I write? The cleanliness of this Guest house is pathetic.
The rooms were not clean one little bit, the shower had a few curly hair on the floor, When my watch fell on the floor under the bed I discovered a dirty sock!
I called the front desk to complain and the only thing they could say is ok I will send someone to clean the room - no sorry!!!

Mediocre Hotel . Extremely rude staff.
Good Location to sightseeing.
Lots of noise from drunks just under our window every morning at 5.30am-6am.
Staff couldn't care less about the guests.Don't expect too much .....

this hotel should have at least 10 stars in customer service. Afnan and Nirvana are really kind, smiling and professional women who work hard to make you feel right at home. you will be sad to leave !

Stayed here as part of a tour and really enjoyed it. Staff are friendly, professional and very service oriented, especially the front desk where Nirvana's extra mile attitude shines indeed. Our room was very large and looked over an interior courtyard so was very quiet (which may not be the case for all as the hotel is located directly on a busy street corner with no setback from the curb). Decor was modern with calming colours and cool tile floors. Bathrooms were of a good size, good water pressure, and well equipped. We especially enjoyed the location in east Jerusalem with the busy street scene (especially in the evenings) and window into the other reality of Israel. We found everyone friendly and welcoming. It is also an excellent location for visiting the Old City - Herod's Gate barely a 10 minute walk away, and Damascus Gate only slightly further. Tours have their breakfast in a lower level room, which is not especially scenic and as it is a little small can get crowded and noisy in the earlier hours as tour groups are rushing to make their morning departure times. However there is a good selection of American style (eggs, cereals, toast etc) as well as middle Eastern style(hummus, labneh, cheeses, fish, olives, halwah, breads etc) breakfast choices and you should be able to have a bountiful and delicious meal plus enjoy variety if you are staying over more than 1 day. The chef usually is in the room overseeing the selection and obviously taking pride in his work and the guests' enjoyment. We also ate one breakfast and one dinner in the top floor dining room, a spacious and comfortable room with lovely views all around and a nice outdoor balcony. Food was fresh and delicious, with extra variety and more personal touches at breakfast (eg. omelette station). The dinner menu had lots of local dishes which we enjoyed and found very reasonable. The service was excellent - attentive without being obtrusive.
