Owner description: Come rediscover Biblical Jerusalem! Located just outside the Old City walls, the City of David is in fact the historical Old City of Jerusalem, containing archeological remnants going back 4,000 years. Come see for yourself where it all began...

My wife and I loved these tunnels at the City of David, as well as the Herodian Road in the same area. Just the idea that people worked on these incredible feats of engineering so many centuries ago is humbling. Highly recommended, but definitely not if you are claustrophobic, or worried about getting stuck in a small, dark space.

This is our children's favorite excursion in Jerusalem, unsurpassed, every time we visit. There is something very magical about visiting and traveling through the tunnels, even for adults. Our kids enjoyed the trek just as much today as teenagers as they did when they were younger. They liken it to being in the Goonies movie, with the adventure of walking through the narrow rock walls surrounded by darkness and the rising water. Areas can very tight and short in some spots. Be sure to bring flashlights and wear appropriate water shoes. The walk-through takes roughly 45 minutes and gives your real glimpse this historical site.

This was my second time doing this - and I'd keep coming back again and again. It is so much fun! It is one of the highlights of Jerusalem for those interested in archaeology, and those interested in doing something different.

What a super few hours. We explored the above ground excavations of King David's Jerusalem. As a biblical scholar it was amazing to see remnants of the ancient palace and evidence that corroborated passages in Jeremiah some seven centrifuges before Christ. The tunnels were amazing, made even better by the Hebrew singing of a bunch behind us. This was the best tour we did in Jerusalem. A must do.

It took me 5 trips to Israel to finally decide to take the time to walk through Hezekiah's Tunnel. Definitely, even on your first trip to Israel, take the time to go to the City of David and specifically to walk through Hezekiah's Tunnel! They say you need water shoes and a flashlight, but it's not really that much trouble. You can wear any walking shoes you don't mind getting wet and would stay on your feet in water (no flip flops for example). And you need only one flashlight for 2-3 people. But the fun of it is walking through e tunnel and history itself, you marvel at how they were able to dig rough solid rock in 700 BC and it really brings the Biblical story of Hezekiah making preparations for the Assyrian invasion alive.
