“Jerusalem "My Destiny"”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2011

Good hotel, food quality and choice excellent, drinks not too high, rooms are fine and bathrooms nice size and well equipped. Hotel occasionally can be crowded and very busy in the morning at the time pilgrimage groups are in action. Hotel staff is helpful, wireless options are kind a steep. How long it will stay in for the moment good condition as it is coming to the point when hotel will need refurbishing...still fairly good hotel!

Room Tip: Not first 3 - 4 floors! No view!

Location is very good. Enables you to stroll around the area.
Hotel gives a very nice view of the Jerusalem Walls
Food is good, rooms are clean and spacious.

Restaurant attendant were kind a rude.
We were having a dinner at 8:00 Pm as we return to the hotel late.
They were already partially closing the lights despite seeing guests
still having dinner.

4 nights in Nov 2011

Nice and clean, modern hotel - however, a bit soulless in parts...

Breakfast was great. Loads of choice. Luckily we weren't with a tour group, so we got to eat in a seperate, smaller area, with better choice! Tour party breakfast area looked hellish...

Desk staff could do with smiling a bit more - they were helpful enough though.

Location is good, right by tram stop, and a short walk to the old city's Damascus / Jaffa gates.

Hotel provides a kettle and cups, but not tea or coffee - you have to buy that seperately. Also, internet is $8 for an hour (!!), and no shampoo/shower gel in the room.

Did have a bad experience with booking a tour tho - hotel booked it for us with a local tour company. Paid the guide on the day, as instructed, then got back to the UK to find my card had also been charged for the same amount. Trying to get it back...

I stay in Jerusalem hotels, on average, once each week, so I have accumulated a lot of experience. The Grand Court is my favorite in the middle price range because of its comfort and convenience. Almost all of the rooms have had firm, comfortable beds. The room has someplace to sit both for working or for relaxing and watching tv (and they finally replaced the old TVs with big flatscreens). The rooms are decent sized. Excellent parking facility. Lots of elevators. Generally pretty quiet although there are occasional exceptions, like most hotels in this range which cater to package tourist groups.
Note: for purposes of comparison to similar hotels, I would say that with respect to the Olive Tree next door the Grand Court is a bit more comfortable, slightly larger rooms, way better parking facility, and more elevators, while the Olive Tree has a much nicer lobby lounge area (big and oriental style) and generally friendlier staff. With respect to the Leonardo 2 doors down, the Grand Court is much nicer and more comfortable, and worth any additional money. Compared with the similarly priced Prima Royale, the Grand Court has much larger rooms and better parking unless you have a subcompact car, while the Prima Royale has much better location and a more intimate and upscale feel.

Room Tip: better to have an outside room than one overlooking the inner court, where noisy tourists sometimes...

We all approved and want to go back someday. It is not much far from Old City. Confortable, clean and very very good food.

If you want to stay in a hotel where the desk staff ignores you unless you are Israeli, where the dining room staff removes your plate without asking if you are finished eating, where someone vomited in the hallway the day after we arrived and the hallway carpet had chunks of food still embedded when we checked out 5 days later, where parents let their children run wild and place dirty diapers outside their door which were not collected by housekeeping staff until the following day, where Internet access is $8 USD per hour or $15 per day (and unreliable), and where pigeons are allowed to bathe and crap into the swimming pool, this is the hotel for you.

We found a lost screaming pre-school child outside our room with no parents or siblings in sight. We called security three times with emergency requests for help; however, no one responded. So, after knocking on every door on three floors of this very large hotel, two children appeared from the stairwell and reported that they knew the child. We were eventually able to reunite the child with his mother. (Evidently, the child strayed away from his father and got on an elevator which stopped at our floor).

The mother told us that she had contacted security in the hotel lobby and was told they had received a call from our floor that a child had been found. Because of her religious beliefs, she could not press elevator buttons so was frantically using the stairway to go floor-to-floor to find her son. The security staff did not assist her.

I can assure you that we will never stay in this hotel again. In addition, I would encourage you to strongly consider alternative hotels unless this is the type of environment that best matches your needs.

The Grand Court is a large, grand looking hotel. Questionable whether its a true 4 star hotel given a lot of minor improvements that are needed in rooms, elevator area to parking, general upkeep of common spaces, exercise room. On the positive side, the hotel's breakfast is very good with many great selections of food for all types of diets and tastes. Furthermore, the location is next to a Light Rail station making it easy to hop on and off to get across much of the Golden City. The location is excellent for exploring east Jerusalem (the Kings Tombs etc.), Ammunition Hill, the Old City, Mea Shearim and Mahane Yehuda and is easy to access from the highway leading to Har Hahotzvim or from Ma'aleh Adumim.
