This place is impersonal and disappointing. I booked it for the fitness centre, and found upon arrival the gym was only open 10am-1pm and 5pm-9pm. However, whenever I tried to go the room was locked with a sign in child-like handwriting reading “Back soon”. I waited 20 minutes and then another guest came and said he had been there over 30 minutes ago and it had been closed then too. I went to the reception to ask if the room could be unlocked and the reception staff were abrupt and unhelpful, cutting me off saying “ya, ya, ya”. After another 10 minutes, I called reception and the staff wouldn’t follow up, and then would not answer the phone at all. When I finally got into the gym, the equipment was very limited. The treadmill doesn’t go very fast, there were weights missing from pairs and the worst part is that there is a staff who just sits on a couch watching TV (and evidently taking extended breaks from his job wherein the gym is inaccessible) and the 2 treadmills are aligned with the TV so that his line of vision rests directly at the buttocks of anyone on the treadmill. It was very uncomfortable. We also found that when we checked in, the reception staff were gruff. No one helped us with our bags either getting in the door or up to the room. Internet is an extra charge ($15/day or $8/hr) and was so slow it was unusable. When I asked for my money back, the man at reception said “it’s not my hotel. No amenities in the bathroom besides liquid soap. Bathroom was dirty, with a smear of feces on the top of the toilet. Very poor ventilation, rooms are stuffy. Beds are horribly uncomfortable. Housekeeping came into the room one day before 8am without knocking, while we were sleeping. There seemed to be a lot of tour groups at the hotel, and our guidebook did mention that the hotel seems to become overwhelmed by their tour groups. Every person we dealt with at this hotel was unfriendly and unhelpful, even sometimes seemingly hostile, and the hotel cheaps out on everything from the Internet to not even providing shampoo or cleaning the toilet! I would never stay here again and will advise anyone I know traveling to Israel to avoid this place like the plague.
