“Good for groups”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed at this large and fairly well appointed hotel with the tour group I was with in January, 2012. Rooms were average in size and came with usual bland decor - functional, but not overly inviting. Shower doors are small (European-style) so be prepared to be careful or get water all over the floor in the bathroom. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel. It was buffet-style and you can see all the international tourists who have come to stay there (including us!). The food was very good - generally hot and many tasty choices (and set up not to violate any religious dietary restrictions, by my estimation), though if you are from the West, you may not recognize all the fare (especially "salads" and desserts). Staff was fine - they were not looking for any new best friends, but far from rude, just matter-of-tact.

Grand Court Hotel is a huge hotel that caters mainly to tour groups. In addition, don't expect service with a smile, with a few exceptions, the people at the front desk wont go out of their way to help you. I had arranged with the hotel to have a car waiting to pick me up at Ben Gurion airport but when I got to the Arrivals Hall , no one was waiting for me. So you're better off taking one of the airport taxis
My room was spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet was a feast, lots and lots of food. Wifi internet was available free of charge throughout the hotel and there were also some computers in the lobby available for guests to use. There isnt much to do around the hotel, you have to walk around ten minutes to get to Damascus Gate. The hotel also offers a free shuttle to the Old City.

The room was nice, beds were firm. Breakfast was tasty with lots of choices, but not real orange juice (-). The staff was friendly and helpful with walking directions and calling cabs. The big plus was the short walk to the Old City. No way did we want to drive and park there. We left the car in the free hotel garage the whole weekend and walked or took cabs.

We were bummed that they didn't have a spa. A massage would have been nice.

Gift shop has strange hours.

Stayed about 6 nights in November 2011 as part of a large tour group.

The overall customer service (which I found non-existent or barely adequate the previous year) seems to have improved quite a fair bit. From the front desk staff to the waiters and cooks, there is an improved attitude. I even noticed smiles this time. Even the gym attendant, who sometimes disappeared from the gym and kept me locked out during supposed opening hours, was quite friendly.

Location-wise, the Grand Court now rates even better with a light rail station just 5 minutes away. Travelling to other parts of Jerusalem is now so much more convenient. Nearby attractions like the Old City, the Jaffa Street areas and the Sukh are now easily accessible on foot or by light rail.

I understand that free wi-fi was just implemented just after my stay, and must say that this is a huge plus point, which I look forward to on my next visit to Jerusalem.

All in all, I like the Grand Court more this year. Cheers.

Had a pleasant three nights here in December. Room was comfortable, complementary Internet was available in the lobby (but not in the room...they said some rooms have it). The gym had very limited hours, so we never saw it. Breakfast was excellent with a wide array of foods available on the buffet. Staff were helpful and gave us useful travel advice. The new tram ride provides an easy way to get to the Central Bus station and the Holocaust Museum, as well as the Old City (which is also walkable, though a bit of a hike).

Stayed here with a tour group for 4 nights. Rooms were comparable to Hampton or Fairfield in the U.S.
Front desk personnel, especially Ameer, were very helpful and responsive. Dining room is large and has a generous buffet. If you are on the Mediterranean diet, you will love it. If you are a fussy American eater like me, the choices are limited. However, the dessert table makes up for the lack of American entrees. Don't expect coffee at dinner, though. It is not available. The biggest downside: watch out for the glasses in your hotel room. They are only "rinsed out' in the bathroom sink by the male room attendants.

Room Tip: Ask for a low numbered rooms. 20-40 are a long walk from the elevator

We only had one night in Jerusalem and this was an adequate place to stay. The place looks nice and the Buffet in the morning was well above average. The staff was below average if your looking for help or effort to find something specific. Our cab driver even motioned for the doorman to come help with the luggage and he didn't, front desk was not much better. They had a serious leak on our floor that didn't have anyone working on it for the 24hrs we were at the hotel - just a bucket in the middle of the hall! It is close to the new light rail service which is a plus. Our kids really liked the Breakfast buffet best. Least favorite part was the staff assistance at the front desk and very limited English ability from some front desk staff - but everyone's English is better than my Hebrew!

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs as the drivers in Israel like to use their horns. we had asked for a connecting room...
