“On the way to Massada”

Great archeological site with tremendous history. Of course, if you don't have a lot of time in the Holy Land, then go to Massada instead.

“Genius”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2012

To be able to build something so big I wonder where the dirt came from to build such a hill. The cisterns were fascinating. There was a dig looking for Herods tomb. The scenery after the big hill climb was worth it.

“Loved it, great views of the whole Dead Sea region.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2012

The lights went out on the Bar Kokhba tunnels, but I was not so interested in that anyway. The excavation is very good and gives some idea of the immensity of the burial palace of Herod the Great. The tomb is not currently visitable. The Vistas are incredible, go early when it is clear to get the best views. Great gift shop and free chilled water maching outside. You can get there without entering Palestinian territory and you can take an Israeli rental car there safely, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
