The cafe is well known for its delicious dishes including their famous shakshuka, a favorite amongst tourists, along with the salmon fillet in fig sauce, The Lover Salad and the cheese cake. It is located in a 150-year-old building and hosts readings by Israel's best-known writers. Tmol Shilshom is named after Nobel laureate S.Y. Agnon's novel (translated as "Those Were the Days"). “Great atmosphere - the best sahlab”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

It's one of my favorite places with a great atmosphere where I take all my friends (as I was taken by a friend for the first time), and maybe I like it because of its sahlab which is a special hot, sweet, milky drink from the Middle East (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salep) - you must try it, but be careful, because you can easily fall in love with the drink and then asking it on other places and then being disappointed by the difference - that's how this place can become your favorite place as well... :)

“Follow the signs!”
Reviewed 2 June 2014 via mobile

Tmol Shilshom is tucked away, but is not so difficult to find. All you need to do is follow the signs to this wonderful, book-themed gem. Anything from the menu is delicious, but a favorite is the Chai Milkshake! A little pricey, but delicious. Occasionally they have book readings and other events that are definitely worth asking about and attending.

“Good food and vibe combination”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

We were looking to escape the Jaffa street heat and crowd for lunch and this charming place was a great find. We shared the sweet potato ravioli and the Greek goddess salad, both were delicious and more than enough to satisfy two hungry ladies. We cooled down with a true Israeli non-alcoholic drink, 'Black Beer’ (excellent!) and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice.
Along with the food, we checked the secondhand books: mostly popular fiction in English and Hebrew for a fair price.

This restaurant is a wonderful place to dine and relax with good food and good atmosphere. The combination of restaurant and a book store works great.

“Nice little secret”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

You will have to look carefully to find it, hidden in a back court, but it's worth it. Nice cozy bookstore like ambiance, funky, it has a real character, service is friendly and relax, food is good. we had the today soup, yummy, and fish. Try the specialities of the house... More local than the tourists restaurants of the neighborhood which all serves burgers...
