Description: An old time dairy bookstore cafe restaurant in the city center, Tmol Shilshom is a popular, kosher culinary and cultural institution favored for its warm ambiance, delicious food, plethora of books and very friendly service. The cafe is well known for its delicious dishes including their famous shakshuka, a favorite amongst tourists, along with the salmon fillet in fig sauce, The Lover Salad and the cheese cake. It is located in a 150-year-old building and hosts readings by Israel's best-known writers. Tmol Shilshom is named after Nobel laureate S.Y. Agnon's novel (translated as "Those Were the Days"). It is open Sunday-Thursday, 8:30 am to 11:30 pm, Friday until before Shabbat and Saturday from after Shabbat.

The cafe is hidden in the city center, the decoration is super classy!! You should come to visit even if you don't plan to eat here. Tmol Shishom serves great pasta, and coffee of course. I enjoy to spend time here and do some reading. The Cafe itself has a lot stories, with poets, artists, the moment I sit there reminds me of old memories. Tmol Shishom organizes some events like poetry reading in both Hebrew and English, some lecture and discussion by famous authors in Israel. This is a must-visit cafe in Jerusalem

This restaurant, so redolent of the West Bank in Paris, is a library, book store and restaurant combined into one. It is on an upper floor in a building in the Nachalat Shiva section of Jerusalem.

The food is always fresh, and a wide range of dairy dishes are served. Service is excellent without being hovering. Prices are good, and portions are quite large.

We recommend this place very much.

Warm and friendly with shelves full of books Tmol Shilshom is both a literary and culinary pleasure. Both the vegan and non-vegan Shakshukas are excellent, the coffee is good and the puddings are creative as well as delicious. This is a very vegan friendly place.

Tmol Shilshom takes me back to the kind of cafes I first discovered in the early 1980s. It is homey, retro and delicioius. A great escape from the midday heat too.
