“Best lunch in the market”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

When I lived in Jerusalem I ate lunch here several times a week, the prices are good for the amount and quality of food you get. It is a really authentic hearty middle eastern lunch time. many tourists would complain that it isn't open in the evening, but you must remember, this restaurant isn't around for the purpose of serving tourists, it is a proper market workers lunch restaurant that is famous for it's Kubah soups and it's warm family staff. It is a small family business that feeds the market workers, the rest of us are just lucky to be able to eat there as well.

“Morduch's Kubeh soup is a must when in Jerusalem”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

Kubeh soup is one of the most typical Jerusalemite dishes you should try when visiting the Israeli capital and Morduch is the place to do so. There is a choice of red soup (beetroot), Hamusta soup (more on the lemonish/tart side) and Bamiah (Okra). All excellent and filling (though the red is my favourite). With some salads on the side, you won't need anything else.
The soup and the kubeh (samolina meatballs normally seasoned with Baharat spice mixture) are prepared the day before and cooked overnight. It is served warm and quick and is delicious and very affordable. My boyfriend won't let us pass through Jerusalem without making a stop here, and for a good reason.
Tip: to combine this with a visit to Mahne-Yehudah market, plan on having Kubeh soup for lunch, rather than dinner as the market closes early.
