“One of a kind pub”
Reviewed 2 August 2013 via mobile

Reminds us local pubs in Ireland. Great food, many kinds if beers from around the world. We come here once a month. Open 'till little hours. It is the first place the manager opened. It has another "big brother" called Porter and sons, but this is a real gem!

“A pleasant pub with good selection of beers”
Reviewed 19 June 2013

Norma Jean is located in south Tel-Aviv. It is a beat off the city center but if you have transportation you will be glad to find plenty of free parking just on the corner.
The place has nice selection of beers - some of them are good Israeli brands such as NEGEV but most are European imported beers. The menu suggests few dishes which go well with the drinks. All the plates that I've tried in the past were good.
Prices of beers in Israel are outrageous but at least in Norma Jean they have some brands that are eligible for "special price".
the Service is good and the atmosphere is very pleasant - music is not too loud!

“Always great!”
Reviewed 9 June 2013

Consistency is what one gets at Norma Jean. The food is excellent. Especially the sizzling hot pan of mixed seafood in coconut milk & garlic. This beer bar has a huge selection of different beers on tap and also good and not overly expensive wines by the glass or bottle. Service is usually pretty good and professional but we try not to go at peak times. A bit out of the tourist archipelago (thank goodness) bordering Yafo, it does sometimes get a boisterous soccer crowd from the nearby Blumfield Stadium, who habitate the open-air (smokers) back garden. So shoot for the storefront picture window. We've been going there for years and even the piped-in music is joyous. It's the perfect light dinner spot after a show or concert.

“So disappointed”
Reviewed 16 March 2013 via mobile

Having read the reviews on here I was very excited that we were staying just a stones throw away from Norma Jean. So much so as soon as we has unpacked, we headed straight down there.

We ordered a few beers and food. The beer selection was very good if not expensive, but the food was awful. Greasy and very unappealing to the eye.

But the biggest problem was the service. The bar maid was very pushy and cheeky. She bought us some shots which she claimed were on her. Then she joined is for a beer which she claimed had been bought for her by other customers.

When it came to us getting our bill, these shots and her drink appeared on our bill. Therefore we took the cost of these drinks out of the tip we were going to leave her at which point she started arguing that we were basically denying her wages. We weren't being cheap, but honest something she had failed to do. We paid our 400 NIS bill, but weren't going to tip her.

Maybe if the place had been busier it would have been better, but it was dead, and sorely lacking in atmosphere.

We didn't bother to go back, having felt and been ripped off.
