“Like a typical hostel”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

Not good not bad just average. We stayed there just for a night ( we had an early flight to Poland) so we didn't even have breakfast there. To me, our room was quite small, but bathroom was ok. The place doesn't have a parking lot, but we managed to park just outside the hostel on the street. It takes just about 15 minutes to get to old port- very nice BTW. Tel Aviv is great!

We stayed there one night. The location is good, but no parking lot. It was very difficutl to find a parking place near the hostel. The room was a basic one. We were dissapointed to find only a kettle in the room without facitlites to make a hot drink including cups or glasses. When we asked at the reception for some cups, the reply was, that they don't supply glasses or materials for a hot drink in the rooms.
Breakfast was good and the service was good.

A good solution not just for budget travellers, situated in strategic location in Tel Aviv, about 20' walk from TAU University. Rooms are somewhat basic and with few frills, but are reasonably large and include all the necessary for a good stay. Very good breakfast, with wide choice of different types of food. The personnel is kind and helpful. Wifi somewhat slow.

This youth hostel is located in a wonderful area. It's on a huge park where you can go running, walk your dog or walk to the port in 15 minutes!
The rooms are spacious enough and have the necessary amenities for a stay. It's a great quality/price deal if you're staying in Tel Aviv with friends.

Reserved a room here due to previous good reviews, but I had quite a different experience. I arrived late on a Sunday evening and had a difficult time finding a place to park. They don't have a lot, only on-street parking in front of the place. As I was checking in, I saw a large cockroach scurrying across the center of the lobby in plain sight - strangely enough, nobody paid any attention to it, either staff or other guests nearby in the lobby. Because it was so late and I was exhausted from travel, I decided to give the place a second chance. I finished checking in and was assigned a room on the 2nd floor. I examined the room before bringing my things up, and saw a small cockroach on the floor. I asked for a refund and was told that was not possible. They gave me a different room on the 3rd floor, in which I found a tiny lizard. I didn't want to risk sleeping there and find out what other bugs might be in the bed.... I wasn't expecting a luxury hotel, just a clean bed to sleep for a single night. It doesn't seem like an unreasonable expectation for a $76 room. I had reservations at several other ILHA guest houses for the duration of my trip and I cancelled all of the other IYHA reservations. It wasn't worth the worth the risk due to their 24-hour advance cancellation policy.

I stayed in this hostel for 5 nights in May 2010. The rate was around 260 NIS in a single room, which is on the cheaper end in Tel Aviv. However, the room was clean and quiet, with en-suite bathroom, all you could wish for in a hostel room. The hotel staff was also friendly and helpful. My room had a balcony in front of the window and faced the quit Bnei Dan street and the Yarkon park (see pictures).

The hostel was largely populated by groups of American college students, so breakfast time offered some potential for discussion about international/US politics. The breakfast featured a variety of salads, cream sauces, tea and coffee.

One of minor disadvantages is the absence of functional internet connection in hostel. They have some overpriced and semi-functional WiFi for 26 shekels for 2 hours. Its a complete rip-off and is best avoided. This is however only a minor problem, because the Yarkon park or Tel Aviv in general offer many free WiFis,

The hostel is easily fully booked, so check the availability early. Unlike other hostels and hotels in Tel Aviv, they respond to email within hours.

Because Bnei Dan was fully booked on some other dates during my Israel tour, I had to stay in a single room in the Hayarkon 48 hostel for one night. I liked the Bnei Dan much, much better, because it had some essential amenities that Hayarkon 48 lacked
1) private bathroom (even though the room cost about 100 shekels more in the Hayarkon)
3) elevator
4) functioning air conditioning
5) windows you could actually close

We had a private room for four people. It was clean and modern, although a little on the small side. There is a train station about a 20 minute walk away, which is convenient if you're arriving from the airport. You can also catch a bus into the city centre from nearby (the staff at the desk can advise).
