Old Jaffa Hostel

You feel like old times, in a good way. Nice terrace, where the breakfast bar is (help your self). Great location, a qick walk takes you to the sea, and a bunch of good bars are just across the street. Basic facillities, but fits for a Hostel! Again, when in Jaffa!

We got a spacious class c room with balcony. Love the old world charm of the building and old Jaffa surround. Live music just under my balcony when we got back from a day of activities. Arrived very late and staff left clear direction for me to get in. Breakfast is minimal but left over from previous night made a feast for us. Parked our rental car right in front of hostel front door for the entire stay without any issues. Room and shared bathrooms are clean for hostel standard. Would definitely stay again if back in Tel Aviv. Noises from restaurants are loud but we were prepared (ear plugs)!

Actually this was worse than a nightmare. Everything looked dirty and disgusting. I was not able to upgrade to a private room, so we had to use shared bathrooms and toilettes. I did not let my children take a shower in that place. Do not expect any breakfast. Staff was very unfriendly and rude.

Room Tip: Do not book a room in this hostel.

Staff is discourteous and poorly trained, facility is dirty and lacking in essntials. Overpriced, for a little more one could be at a nice hotel.

Brekfast consisted of bread and juice. Lobby is on the second floor, no help with luggage up the stairs...no air conditioning. We were expecting spartan conditions, but other hostels are not this dirty and have staff that are trained to treat guests with courtesy and respect. Would not return and cannot recommend this location to others.

Room Tip: Don't stay here!

I got a private room ( wich surprised me for being so small ) and it was dirty and full of bugs. There were bugs in the terrace kitchen walking on the sink while I was trying to cook.
There is no 24h reception and everyone can get in because the entrance door lock doesn't work properly.
This is enough to never recomend this place.

Room Tip: Go to another hostel

The non AC double we stayed in was roomier than the AC one and the fans did a good job at keeping us cool at the beginning of September. The hostel is well placed 5 minutes from the beach in Jaffa, and close to the flea market and lots of good restaurants. The showers are rather basic, but it's very good value compared to other hotels in Tel Aviv. The rooftop terrace is lovely.

The location of the hostel is great, there are lots of great restaurants and places around it, but in my opinion this didn't make up for the fact that the place really is run-down. There is no air conditioning in the dorms, the dorms are really cramped and noisy (the downfall of the near-by bars...), the wifi worked only half of the time, out of four showers for the girls only one works properly, the floors are pretty dirty and we even witnessed a dog peeing on it... It didn't help that the staff seemed to be in a bad mood most of the time. Of course it still is a rather good bargain compaired to prices of other hostels but if you also want to relax a bit in your holidays, it might not be the best choice.
