Great location just off Rothschild Street in a hip neighborhood in Tel Aviv. The rooms large and the hotel is fairly priced, however, the contemporary austere feel they are going for needs some work. The rooms are a bit worn and could use an update.
The staff is very friendly and helpful and were very accomodative when we inquired into whether we could move to their sister hotel The Rothschild, which is a bit more upscale.
If you are looking for simple large rooms that are reasonably priced, this is the place.

My Partner and I recently travelled to Israel to look at wedding bands and we were unsure of where to stay, as it was our first tie in Israel. We decided on the Diaghilev ad from the moment that we walked in and met Miriam, we knew we had made the right decision. The staff and their involvement/enthusiasm was incredible and definitely the best I have received anywhere in the world. To be engaged by someone so focused on helping you to enjoy and make the most out of your visit was both refreshing and unexpected. Quite simply, stay here for the staff alone. Couple with that the clean and spacious rooms and you are onto a winner. My new wife and I definitely want to return at some point in the future. Splendid!

Nice location, nice restaurants around, boulevard, sea.
Good staff, excellent accommodation, clean, secure.
The room is a small flat, with a living room and separate bedroom. Very spacious and clean and I would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: All suites are good, higher floor probably better

We stayed at the Diaghilev. The staff were helpful and accommodating at all hours. The room and amenities were comfortable. Thank you for providing the iron and ironing board … we were in Tel Aviv for a wedding and our clothes needed pressing! We particularly loved the space of the living room and kitchenette!

We also enjoyed the art gallery. Nice touch!

I just returned from staying at the Diaghilev--twice. I liked it so much, that the next week, I checked back in a week later after leaving Jerusalem. I have been to Israel over 60 times. This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in while there. Here is why:

1. The staff is unlike any in Israel. Professional. Friendly. Embracing. Warm. Efficient. Caring. Happy. Yes, happy. None of that typical Israeli service attitude like they're angry, have no time, you're a bother, or they just can't help and don't know.

2. The design of the hotel and the rooms. Nothing like it anywhere. Creative. Artistic. Bright. Contemporary. Airy. Lots and lots of room. Views of either green or city.

3. Affordable. You don't feel like you are being gouged.

4. Location. Location. Location. I always have stayed near the beach. This is right off Rothschild. The best. I spent many hours writing at the cafe on Rothschild, feeling the real pulse of Tel Aviv---not the tourist pulse.

5. The parking garage. Unlike all others. There is actually room to park your car without getting it crushed or scratches.

Room Tip: just ask for what you want. I said I wanted a good view and got it.

We stayed at the Diaghilev for two nights in June. The front desk staff are all friendly, fun and welcoming and the complimentary cold beer at check in was a very nice surprise. The room is a small flat, with a living room and separate bedroom. Very spacious and clean and I would definitely stay here again. My only caution is the location. If you are coming to Tel Aviv for a beach vacation, the hotel is a haul to the beach. The hotel is also in a residential area, so if you are looking to go downstairs and hit the cafes and bars, you are going to have to walk a bit to get there.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Diaghilev is a bohemian boutique hotel that offers an extraordinary and exceptional cultural experience intensified by an excellent personal service. The hotel features an art gallery exhibiting over 500 artworks that change every 6 months, unique and mostly radical decor items, a collection of hand made rugs from all over the universe, most of which are ancient and therefore reflect the aged cultures they originate from. The Diaghilev has recently established a HUB for Start-ups and integrates a wide activity in such fields as design, fashion and technology. The uniqueness of the hotel brought it into prominence among internationally acknowledged artist visiting Tel Aviv and the world of technology and start-up. Many employees of the leading corporations in the world choose the Diaghilev as their base in Tel Aviv. Built in the purest Bauhaus the Diaghilev invites its guests to experience a World Cultural Heritage site rich of hundreds of Bauhaus buildings and get a taste of the “White City.” Our uncommon nocturnal concept was designed taking account of a recent scientific research that showed evidence that black beddings cause intensive production of Melatonin hormone, which results in deeper sleep, stronger immune system and increased anti-aging effect. The Diaghilev is an eco-friendly hotel, committed to a continually expanding list of operating practices that aim to maintain minimal environmental impact. The toiletries at the Diaghilev are of outstanding quality. They are produced from natural materials created from plants cultivated for this purpose in the hills of Jerusalem. These products are produced and packaged at a small factory that employs people with disabilities and integrates them into the labor market. Our creativity-support concept lead to the establishment of the HUB - a shared work environment that is more than a physical workplace for creative entrepreneurs: It is designed to nurture a community in which creators will be able to collaborate with one another in order to produce innovative projects and initiatives. ... more   less
