Stayed at Shalom twice during my visit to Israel – five nights in a standard room and three nights in a Jacuzzi suite on leaving the country. Shalom is a real find, and the best boutique hotel I’ve stayed in. It reminded me of a mini-Peninsula. Rooms are immaculate. The standard room is a tad small, but perfect; the Jacuzzi room is nothing short of stunning. The web site doesn’t do Shalom justice – amazing roof terrace, the best breakfast buffet ever, helpful, welcoming staff. I could go on.
What makes Shalom extra-special, though is the neighborhood. Away from the tourist traps further down Hayarkon, the beach and promenade across the street are terrific places to watch the sun go down on the Mediterranean. Café life, shopping on Dizengoff and Ben Yehuda both just a block o so away. Got a flavor for the real Tel Aviv. Can’t wait to come back.
