We arrived at the Shalom & Relax Hotel after 19 hours of travel. We were greeted by Avi, the Reception Manager, with open arms. We were travel weary and so was our little Chihuahua, Butch and just wanted to go to sleep. While we checked in, Avi gave us fresh cherries and Max Brenner chocolates and iced cold water. We had several pieces of luggage for our more than three week stay in Israel. We were given a lovely room facing the park, with a very roomy shower and deluxe amenities. The king size bed was very comfortable. After a good nights' sleep, we went down to an astounding breakfast buffet with fresh squeezed citrus juices, apple & carrot juice, hot oatmeal, granola, various fruit syrups (the date syrup was my favorite), an assortment if fresh, crisp salads (yes, Israeli's eat salads for breakfast!), smoked fish, Capresse salad, grape leaves, fresh cut fruit, mixed fruit salad, a large assortment of fabulous breads, sweet rolls an assortment if teas and coffee, latte or cappuccino! At 5:00pm the hotel presents a wonderful Happy Hour for guests to mingle, drink champagne and nibble on tasty hors d'ouvres, complimentary. The hotel provides a beach towel and flip flops in a tidy cloth bag for the beach plus water. Eti, the hotel manager fell in love with my dog, Butch and he bonded with her. I have never been in such a friendly hotel. We met many international guests and made good friends quickly. The beautiful landscape roof deck had stunning views of the Mediterranean with soft breezes. The staff, Simona, Daisy, Keren, Ramona, Yuveal, Oren and the rest were superbly attentive. The hotel is very gay friendly and pet friendly. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and were surprised by a wonderful bottle of wine, a box of chocolates and a surprise gift of Israeli soaps and oils. We felt very special the entire 22 day stay. We cried upon our departure and vowed to return to this exceptional and special hotel. Our highest recommendation! Do not consider staying anywhere else in Tel Aviv!

We have been in the hotel from 05/06/2014 till 11/06/2014 and have allways been served
in a friendly way to our full satisfaction. The rooms are nice and clean. The hotel is very well
situated, just 2 minutes the beach. There is no doubt that by our next trip to Tel Aviv we would
choose again this hotel.

I am in town on business and my boyfriend came with me. This hotel is cool in comparison to the other two I gave stayed at in Tel Aviv, previously.

Reception is friendly and very helpful. They made us feel welcome and helped us with tours, dinner reservations and bicycles. The room is small and clean. Just fine for us. Electric outlets next to the bed - one of the top amenities on my list. Hotel is also well located near the port, great bars and restaurants, beaches, and sight-seeing.

Awesome ouzo-grapefruit welcome drink, too.

The Shalom and Relax Hotel is run by two professional, extremely competent women, manager Eti and her assistant Simone. These two try very hard indeed and succeed with lots of charm. The spirit of Golda Meir is alive and well and living in Hayarkon Street Tel Aviv. And Ben Gurion's house is close by too.

The Shalom has been a hotel for at least forty years and in its present incarnation as part of the Atlas Boutique Hotel Group for about three. The location is great, near the newly refurbished Port Area which has been developed into a busy, buzzy outdoor retail and restaurant mall. Most things in Tel Aviv are within walking distance. The main downstairs reception/lounge/breakfast area is bright, airy, comfortable and welcoming. The breakfasts really are as good as the various TA reports attest. Start your diet now and don't bother with dinner. The chill out rooftop terrace is a great bonus. As in other Atlas hotels happy hour is a welcome, generous extra freebie, especially after a hard day pounding the streets of this humid (but cool) city.

However, even the Shalom is not quite perfect. The wifi signal in my room was very weak and I had to repeatedly log in. Why do Israeli hotels not make their wi fi as simple to use as hotels in Europe do? I would have liked the sex workers' cards strewn all over the pavement /sidewalk outside the Shalom to have been removed more frequently. The size of our superior room was just about OK. Don't expect to hold a party in your bedroom. It had the narrowest entrance door I have ever encountered in any hotel anywhere. Guinness Book of World Records? You could just about have swung a cat in the bathroom but only just. Hayarkon Street is busy, Israeli drivers make liberal use of their horns and like to play their music loud 24/7. All part of the Tel Aviv experience.

A special mention for our hardworking housekeeper Tatianya. She really is a star providing service with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble and answers to our questions were delivered in her unique cosmopolitan blend of Hebrew, English and Russian all with that warm, genuine smile. Lovely.

Room Tip: Some rooms are very small, not quite Japanese sleeping in a pod style but it's worth checking ou...

My daughter and I stayed here at the beginning and the end of our recent trip to Israel. We loved the look and feel of the hotel: beachy, small, service-oriented - the kind of hotel where they can't do enough to help you! The Israeli breakfast was the best we had anywhere in Israel - including at their other property (the Arthur Hotel) in Jerusalem! We had a macaroon-like cake that we are still pining for... My only criticism would be that the bathroom was just so tiny in the second room that we stayed in. Then again, that room had a better view than our first room. All in all, a wonderful hotel to discover!

We are frequent visitors to Tel Aviv and Shalom and Relax is the best hotel we have found there by miles! It is clean, comfortable and goes the extra mile to ensure that guests have all the need and little extras too. Our room was quiet and the bed was great. Staff were helpful and friendly. The best feature of the hotel is the roof terrace. It is gorgeous! We sat out there to watch the sun set and to chat with friends. Lots of comfortable furniture and incomparable views. We also enjoyed the seats on the 'veranda' at the front of the hotel - convenient and relaxing for that last cup of coffee after breakfast - which, incidentally, is plentiful and delicious. Altogether an impressive experience, which we will be repeating as often as possible.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter. Great views across the sea from the front.

We spent 5 nights there. The entire staff was so helpful and friendly; the breakfast was plentiful and delicious; the room was very clean and quiet; and the location was so convenient. It was a wonderful experience!

Room Tip: higher floor, facing rear of hotel was very quiet.
