I have stayed in this hotel twice and i have found their service to be very good. The staff and also very helpful. Breakfast is goood but no hot meats options. The hotel is 5 minutes walk to the beach, 5 mins to street market.

We've stayed at theMercure Tel Aviv in March. First of all, the location is not great, a block or two away from the beach (bad for swimming). There are no good restaurants around the hotel. The hotel itself is small and can easily be missed. The rooms are tiny, two people can feel cramped. One double bed in the room, very uncomfortable. The view from our room was terrible - construction. In the morning you can hear the construction noise and at night you can hear homeless cats or barking dogs outside. The walls are so thin that we could hear people sneezing and coughing accross the hall. The bathrooms are in terrible shape and the hot water stops running while you are still taking a shower. The towels are old and have a particular not-so-fresh smell to them. Disgusting. The TV remote control doesn't work. The elevator is so small that it will not fit a person and luggage together.
The breakfast was just OK. They "hot" dishes were supposed to be hot, but the staff didn't turn on the warmers until the dining area was full. So if you like your eggs, potatoes cold you will have no problem. Only 3-4 hot dishes available (boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, potatoes, other), a few salads, herring, bread, one type of not-so-fresh juice, coffee. The staff in the dining room is lazy, dirty dishes stay on tables for a while. None of them speak English.
Also, check you bill after your stay, some surprise charges may appear. The front desk staff are mostly polite but knowledgable only on the basic level, so don't ask them anything complicated. The hotel security guy (russian) is obnoxious and rude.
We only stayed there for 2 nights and moved out to Intercontinental Tel Aviv. Will never book this hotel again and would never recommend it to anyone. We've stayed at Novotel, Sofitel, Mercure before but this hotel is the worst. And if you think about bringing your kids here - forget it!

Room Tip: There are no good rooms, choose a different hotel.

We stayed here for one night as we are rarely disappointed with Mercure hotels. The staff is very friendly. Our room was quite large and very bright. The shower was awesome! The double bed was actually two singles pushed together, but this is fairly common in European hotels. The breakfast buffet was included and it was excellent; lots of choices and vey good food. One of the women working at check-in recommended a restaurant and called it for us. She was able to get a table for us even though the restaurant was supposedly booked. The hotel is two blocks from the sea, which is wonderful.

Clean and spacious room. Awesome view from the 11th floor. I really recommend the top floor sea view rooms. A Finnish sauna in the gym was a pleasant surprise. Staff was courteous and attentive. I got informative Tel Aviv infopack at the check-in and loyalty recognition. Room fridge (minibar) and in-room safe were defective, but hotel staff fixed the issues immediately. Hotel location is perfect, very close proximity to beach and the city center. Many restaurants and pubs nearby walking distance.

I tried to book a room after we previously stayed in this hotel (April 2013)
Today (March 2014) I talked with Hana (reservations), and I can not believe what answer I got !!!
My children are 4 month and 2 years old
Hana claims that we need 2 rooms !!! because 2 children (even in this age) are not allowed in the parents room
We stayed in this hotel in the past and we are very disappointed that they changed there attitude with regards to children
As we leave in Israel and travel a lot, with the current and past experience with this hotel we strongly recommend other very good hotels in Tel Aviv - mainly the boutique hotels which are better located, have more special rooms, better breakfast (very simple one in this hotel).
Stay elsewhere !!!

Loved this hotel. Very comfortable, quiet. The staff were very friendly and I felt very much at home. Very clean. Breakfast was amazing. In fact I returned a week later from Jerusalem since I didn't like the hotel I was booked into there for a further week. Will definitely return again.

Definitely suited to business travelers. Nothing but the basics in this hotel. Be sure to ask for an executive level room so you are in an upper floor which will give you a view of the Mediterranean. Great location to walk to the beach, but not many restaurants close by. This hotel is not near shopping or any attractions, but we were able to walk to the Jaffa port and back through the Shuk without tiring.
The rooms were clean, but linen was starchy, towels were small - as was the bathroom. The breakfast was a traditional Israeli Buffet breakfast and in a small room with not enough seating if you happened to want breakfast when everyone else did.
Hotel parking was limited forcing us to park in the street and walk with bags. And you will need to carry bags up one flight of stairs to the elevators which will only hold two bags and two people.
If you are looking for a 3 star hotel with the basics, this one will do!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor with a view of the Mediterranean.
