“OK for a couple of nights”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

Stayed here 3 nights in January,Ok little bit old and tired looking. very expensive for a beer
Breakfast was OK and reasonable choice,Stayed in one night for the set dinner and it was awful, expensive ,small choice and cold
My room was at the side of the hotel looking onto the car park and plenty of noise coming from this during the night due to gangs of young people meeting up their cars
Staff were great

Rooms are small but clean, although shower was quite tiny. Bed was good but pillows erratic. Be certain to request a sea view room as many rooms are obstructed by the newer Herod Hotel across the street. The chair in our room was vinyl and cracked (see pic). It should have been replaced. Check-in was slow as one desk person was busy flirting with guests from Uruguay. The fire alarm went off five times - very irritating. The big redeeming feature for this hotel is one of the best breakfast buffets. It ranks with five star hotels.

Room Tip: Upper floor sea view

This hotel seems to be pretty newly renovated. The staff at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. The rooms seems to be pretty small and the bathrooms is tiny. Just bare in mind if you are sensitive to noice you should probably choose another hotel. The room I got was not so noisy since I had mine facing the back alley of the hotel. My other team mates that got it facing the ocean had to change room since the traffic was very noisy as well.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to noice, pick a room that's not facing the car park or the main street/oce...

Good for solo or couples looking to stay somwhere nice but willing to spend big bucks on lodging (at the nearby 4/5 star hotels). The Leonardo is a botique style hotel that is clearly a modernized old building. Bathrooms are a bit small and rooms are fairly basic, but all in great condition. The staff is very friendly and the wifi actually works (not always the case in Israeli hotels). I did have a problem with the hot water when I checked in ( as in there was none). After realizing that there was a bigger problem than can be quickly fixed, I was quickly moved to a different room. (I get the sense that the plumbing is a bit old and might often cause problems so chec your bathroom when you check in). The hotel is across the street from the beach and right off the popular Ben yahuda street. The location is great for what ever you want to do.

The location of the hotel if you want to reach the city is okay. The beach is close by across a main busy 4 lane street. After I spend the first night in a sea view room I changed to the back of the hotel because it was simply too loud facing the main street. The bathroom is tiny and the walls paper thin. It's good that they have a hotel bar but closing down at 10pm is a kind of early.
Overall I doubt that I will come back again. I am sure that there are better places to stay in Tel Aviv.

Room Tip: ocean facing rooms (there is a street in between) are loud

We celebrated our grandsons Barmitzvah with a splendid dinner on Friday night at the Basle. The food was tasty plentiful and varied. The service excellent.
Our room, not sea facing was fine. Quiet, pleasant only the towels need replacing.
The breakfast was excellent.
The staff is very pleasant, obliging and efficient.
We look forward to another visit soon.
