Over the past few years, my husband and i, and sometimes our grown children, have enjoyed several weekend 'escapes' to tel aviv at the Melody Hotel. We enjoyed our visits there every time, but decided this time to change the scenery and neighborhood and take a chance on the Cinema Hotel. We were not disappointed. This is a lovely boutique, city hotel with a theme. It is in a great location, spotless and well cared for. We were lucky enough to have a room (very comfortable) with a tiny but adorable balcony overlooking the Agam fountain. Airconditioning was excellent, breakfast very enjoyable (and on shabbat served until 11!). We made use of the free bicycles twice and easily peddaled over to the beach just a five minute ride away. The small and adorable vintage clothing and antiques bazaar in the courtyard in front of the hotel was still under way when we arrived on friday mid-day, and the Dizengoff Center shopping mall, just a five minute walk away, provided plenty of movie choices and shopping for saturday night. Lots of great restaurants in walking distance as well. One thing to note- Even though you can't lower the height of the terrace walls to provide a more spacious-feeling view, the roof top terrace could be rearranged, more plants added, to make more intimate seating spaces. There was live music friday night on the roof top, which was a pleasant addition to the very nice complimentary happy hour. But the roof top terrace at the sister hotel, Center Chic, right across the street, is a prettier place for sitting and relaxing with a good book....The hotel management was very helpful and even allowed us to check out a bit later on sunday so we could take advantage of the great shopping at boutiques on Dizengoff Street.
