“Quite surprised”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2013

Having never stayed at a hostel before, I was surprised how great this place is. Although I must be honest, and say we had a private room. Still for the price, the location is great, and the room was good. It had a double bed, and a single bed, with private bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. The room even had air conditioning. The breakfast is basic, and you make your own. Was adequate and filling. The staff I found to be friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hostel.

My sister and I spent 4 nights in a private room with a private bathroom. Actually, what we got was a 4-bedroom only for us, where the 2 extra beds were very convinient for keeping our stuff on them :). The room was pretty basic, but had everything you would need, including clean bed linen and towels and shower gel and shampoo (but no soap, we bought one in one of the nearby stores). There were no hangers in the warderobe, but there was a big coat-stand. There was a huge plasma TV in the room, which we did not switch on at all and air-conditioning which we did not need at the end of October.
Breakfast was basic, but OK - butter and chocolate spread, bread which you can toast, boiled eggs, fresh eggs so you can make an omelet, a lot of vegetables (pepper, tomato etc.), tea and coffee and fresh-water machine (many people filled in their bottles before going out). You can buy extra food if you like and store it with your name tag in the fridge. Dishes must be washed after breakfast!
Special compliments go to the reception staff. They were all so helpful.
WiFi was working perfectly in our room.
The hostel location is excellent and very convinient, close to the main city market, bus-stops to other parts of the city and what is most important - to the (lovely) beach. There is a non-stop shop opposite the hostel and many other small shops in the vicinity.
Our largest concern before deciding for this hostel was many complaints about noise. However, the only noise we occasionally heard was sound of shower from the next-door shared bathroom.
So, you would have everything you need in this hostel. They are very professional and visibly trying to improve their service even more all the time. I would recommend it to my friends.

Anyone taking a trip to Tel-Aviv MUST consider staying at the Hayarkon 48 Hostel located on Hayarkon St. The location is great because not only is it practically on the beach (1 block away) and adjacent to the Shuk HaCarmel market (5 min. walk), but it is also as equidistant from the beautiful Hayarkon Park (30 min walk) in northern Tel Aviv as it is from the unique neighborhood of Jaffa (30 min. walk) in southern Tel Aviv. This clean hostel also offers a FREE breakfast of champions everyday, has a comfortable rooftop to hangout on those nights where one wants to just relax after busy travel days, and has the most accommodating, and friendly staff around which makes one's stay in a foreign place that much more comfortable. Highly Recommended!

Room Tip: Tip: Most rooms have balcony access, just ask the staff!

Full of young people, very close to the beach, friendly staff was always ready to give us tips and advices. The highlight of the stay was the breakfast - they offered us vegetables, bread, eggs, nutella and jam to make your own breakfast. After a two week trip around Israel it was great feeling to make something on our own. Another highlight was the rooftop - there were probably great parties there in night but we brought the breakfast there instead and it was great having the meal by that view.

Room Tip: Number 10 with the view on the beach was pretty good.

My girlfriend and I stayed there for one night and we booked a private room.
The staff was really rude to us and the room was tiny, in addition the mattresses were very narrow and thin.
After the "comfortable" night we wanted to eat something but we didn't find anything deserving the name breakfast.
After the "breakfast" we wanted to leave our bags but the staff was very "nice" in telling us that there is no storage room.
In the end we just see ONE reason to stay, which is the closeness to the beach.

Dear Patrick
Thank you so much for your review. I'm terribly sorry for the way you feel. I wish I knew about your dissatisfaction with the service while you were still at the hostel . Great service is one of our top values (as you must have seen in other reviews), and I am truly surprised to hear you've been treated differently. I also wish you would have told us that you are unhappy with the bed in your room - we would have tried our best to improve the situation, maybe even change your room. (we have no desire keeping our guests unhappy) As for the breakfast, I'm, afraid there is not much we could do here. We find fresh vegetables, bread, eggs, marmalade, chocolate spread, butter and hot beverages to be more then a satisfying breakfast, but if there is anything else that you find necessary, please let us know.
And as for your last complaint - we find our locker system to be the most beneficial and safe - both for our guests and for us. The 24\7 security cameras capturing the lockers provides our guests with the best protection for their belongings. For those of our guests who would rather not to rent a locker after all, we offer free of charge safety boxes, (that would fit anything up to a laptop), protected by security cameras as well.
we do not believe that the same level of security would be possible to achieve in an open storage room.
Once again - I wish I heard about the way you felt while you where still with us. I'm sure if we only knew, we could have end your stay with us on better terms.
