Allenby Bauhaus Apartments
Reviewed 3 March 2014

The good things: This is very well situated, not far from the beach, a lot of bars and restaurants in an area with very nice atmosphere. Also, the staff, when available is trying to make your stay comfortable. The not so good part: This is not 3,5 stars, hardly two stars. It is very noisy, and if you get a room toward the Allenby Street it’s like sleeping in a tent in a roundabout. Also, we stayed close to a week without there being anyone cleaning the room or bringing new towels. The room is also very worn down. To sum-up: If it matters to you that the place you stay is in pristine condition, find somewhere else. If location and price matters, this is a good choice. Would recommend it for young people in party/beach mode, not as much for people over 50 years in relaxation mode.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from Allenby Street.

Apartments situated in a central location in Sheinken/Rothschild/Allenby street areas and literally beside Ha'carmel market. Five minute walk downhill to beach/ promenade and 15 minute walk from Jaffa port. Bus and Sherut stops plentiful in area as are places to eat out, cafes and other shops. We stayed for 2 nights and were impressed with the standard of the apartment - we had a corner one on the second floor with a large balcony which was spotless. The kitchen contained everything we needed (microwave, stove top, kettle, fridge and cutlery/crockery, plus tea, coffee and a bottle of water were provided). The large double bedroom had a wardrobe and tv (additionally the living room had a double pull out sofa bed). The bathroom was small but adequate. Plenty of hot water available (a bonus as availability of hot water unreliable elsewhere!). Disagree with reviews stating the apartments are shabby - the stairwells aren't as well maintained but the apartments themselves are fine. Photos of surrounding buildings are accurate, however, graffiti art is common place across Tel Aviv as are building sites. Wifi available in apartments (and surrounding area which is a free Tel Aviv wifi zone). Efi the apartment manager very helpful and friendly. The only negatives were 1) the noise - loud until late at night as the apartments overlook the main road but also Israeli night life doesn't start till later and 2) booking this apartment via agoda. I would not advise anyone doing this as customer service is appalling and they do not forward your details to the apartment manager so that they can meet you with the keys. The apartments do not have a reception and you need to pre-arrange arrival times and be met by the manager, therefore you spend a lot of time and money trying to make contact with the manager and agoda does not provide the correct contact information - the apartment manager has issues with agoda as did the manager of the hotel we stayed in when in Jerusalem. I would advise booking these apartments via booking.com who do forward your details and the manager of the Bauhaus apartments contacts you direct. Overall we thought the apartments were good value for money. The only reason I gave 4 not 5 stars was in relation to the noise at night.

I stayed there from 2nd of February until the 5th, 2014.
Well everybody, first pictures are a lovely make-up, rooms are NOT restored, there is no roof terrace, apartments are worn down. At the same price, more decent, boutique style hotels up to 2 stars can be booked. Stuff is kind, when around but most of times is not, and when not, the cleaning lady proves obstinacy to speak her own language. Wifi signal is as weak as it would need to pass through a needle. Only good things are clean bed-sheets, towels and the location. You can find dirt on the wall, when entering the building you have a clear feeling of the ghetto-like decay. And oh, there is mold in the bathroom, hot water has problems and toilets can flush out easily overnight, not to mention no garbage can to throw paper into.. My opinion, avoid these guys, until they lower the price to at least 30 USD per night, which is a fair value to pay for this quality in Tel Aviv. Uploaded some three pictures, unfortunately rest have been deleted due to some phone problems... but do not expect to find what is up in the main pictures posted by owners there!!!!!! Finally - avoid this ghetto-hole as possible at this price!!!!!! Unless you"re more than three to stay or being in the neighborhood is a must and all hotels in nearby at this price are booked, avoid it!

We stayed two nights at the penthouse apartment. It is fully and modern furnished and the location is central. It could've been a bit cleaner and more professional, but finally everything worked well. So in our opinion price and value are balanced.

The apartments are really nice, good located in the middle of the center of Tel Aviv and 5 minutes walking from the beach. 15 Minutes walking from the old town Jaffa.
Public transport is outside the entre door to every destination.

Terrace's, restaurants, shopping center and the Carmel market are around the corner.

The Bauhaus is an old monumental building with style full spacious apartments with high ceilings, full light and a special atmosphere. Cozy furnished, everything is available. The kitchen is foreseen with a small kitchen block with fridge, cooking plate and microwave as a separate dinner bar and relax corner. There is a separate storage area in the apartment for suitcases. The bedroom and bathroom are spacious. In the bedroom is a double ward robe.

The apartments have air-conditioning and a are foreseen of a perfect double protection for sun in summer season as for cold in winter and noise of the area.

The building has a double protection for safety.
Traveling as woman alone in this period gave me the feeling to be at a safe accommodation.

The manager Mr. Effi is very service minded and will do everything to make it his guests comfortable.

It's a very nice perfect location for an excellent holiday in Tel Aviv.

Room Tip: This is a perfect accommodation on a good location. The price and value are in balance.
