Visited at lunch on a Tuesday and it was packed with a decent line for table. Got a take away tub and demolished it in a nearby park. Top notch, chunky hummus.

Abu Hasan in Jaffa is a "must" for eating simple good humus with no fancy, a big crowd all aound. Yoy\u can also take away, but the fresh humus on the spot is what you really enjoy here.

After a long trek from the centre of Tel Aviv, we finally arrived at this legendary cafe. It is a bit tricky to find, but if you go up Rechov Yefet (follow the street up behind the Jaffa Clock Tower), pass Louis Pasteur Street and the College des freres, turn right on to Yehuda Hayamit Street, which veers into Yehuda Margoza Street. Go up a hill (on your left) and you have arrived. We opted to skip the line up and take out our hummus and pita, put it in our small food cooler and savour it when we got back to our apartment. What a wonderful treat it was! The hummus is so fresh and tasty, as is the pita and it has the right subtle combination of flavours. For a phenomenal gastronomic hummus experience, we would highly recommend Abu Hassan. A huge bonus is the clean free washroom on the corner (but bring your own toilet paper!)

We went for lunch, there were long queues and took about 15mins to wait but you could also get a takeaway and sit on the wall nearby. We got 2 huge plates of hummus, 4 pita breads and a raw onion. 1 was a chunky warm hummus and the other was regular. It was the best hummus I had tasted in Tel Aviv but I wouldn't call it lunch. Its a shame they don't serve anything else like falafel or salad to make it more complete.
