“An excellent restaurant with remarks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 October 2013

We have dined at Mul Yam in the port of Tel-Aviv. This is not our first time at this restaurant and we came to celebrate a double birhtday there. The atmosphere is womerfull, the food is excelelent, served in beautiful dishes, the service is great and the overall impression is great. However, I have a few but importnant remarks- WE ate there last time about 6 months ago- the Menu didn't change a birt and the number of dishes are limited. We knew the prices in advance and we don't mind paying a lot for a good food. However, I find it close to outragous to pat 32 NIS for one small bottle of water!! And last but not least, if we come for a double celebrate, the team could have done something to add to the celebration.....

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 September 2013

Great food and excellent service this restaurant has a beautiful view situated in Tel Aviv harbour. Well decorated clean toilets and tables not to close together. The menu is fish and if you don't eat shell fish you might find it hard to find something to order. The deserts were excellent and a good choice. Prices are high

“Great expectations and no disappointments”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2013

I've eaten at Mul Yam before. This is one of the world's fine restaurants. It is outrageously expensive so don't go if you are on a budget and cannot splurge (or unless you are invited and money is no object). The business lunches are also relatively expensive, but bearable and a good alternative.
Except for a few blips in the service (nothing that spoils the experience but just tiny things that shouldn't happen) the restaurant is almost perfect. The service is highly professional, the menu choices are exciting and out of the ordinary, the wine list is great, the music not too loud, the air-conditioning just right.
So what's not perfect? Only the ambiance, the decor, the overdone simplicity. True, the tablecloths are crisp and white, the glassware sparkles, the flowers look fresh. But there is no charm, no special "feeling". Did it spoil our meal? No. Could it have been added oomph? Yes. Would I go back again? Most definitely, for a special event and when I've scraped enough shekels together. The food is simply out of this world.

Very high quality food and service. Outrageous prices for dinner. A treat for those who do not care about the cost.

“Best meal I have had in Tel Aviv in a long time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2013

Contrary to what many of the reviewers below said, this is hands down the finest restaurant in Israel. I think the first thing one needs to understand is that seafood is very very expensive in Israel, and Mul Yam's are the finest, mostly imported by the owner through his fish business. It is prohibitively expensive for dinner but offer a two course business lunch for 170nis weekdays and 185nis weekends. Considering what they serve it is excellent value for the money.

The restaurant is in the Tel Aviv Port, and valet parking is a huge help in this congested area.

The breads and spreads they serve are homemade and excellent. I had a the "open lasagna" with shrimp, crabmeat and pea shoots which was excellent. Followed this with grilled langoustines which were perfect.

The true highlight here though is dessert. Their pastry chef is unreal. Two desserts, the panacotta with wildberries and chocolate and the nectarine kadaif were incredible and the homemade chocolates were to die for.

Yoram Nitzan is hands down the best chef in Israel.

PS. Their cookbook "Seafoodpedia" recently won a Gourmand World Cookbook Award—the most prestigious international award in the field—something no Israeli cookbook has ever accomplished before in the fish and seafood category.

Mul Yam, cost for lunch with wine, coffee and desserts...600nis and worth every penny.
