“Yummy houmous ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2014 via mobile

It's fast, funny, super yummy, cheap and a real experience during a stay in tel aviv!! Just go, you will have fun! It's very close to the port of Jaffa so try to combine it for a quick lunch while you visit this part of town.

“Incredible humus and lots of local atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 November 2013

We at in the humus-only restaurant. The one across the street serves a more varied menu including felafel.
Three of us share a regular plate of humus. We all agreed it's the best we ever had.
Locals and tourists intermingle and waiters yell orders to one another in Hebrew. But you feel comfortable and a part of the action. It's conveniently located in Jaffa and well worth a visit.

“Best hummus restaurant ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2013

As me and my family like hummus very much, we have been in most hummus restaurants all over Israel and some abroad. Last week, we made a vacation in Tel Aviv (wonderful Armon Hayarkon Hotel again). Well, we've heard a lot about Ali caravan restaurant, in the port of old Jaffa, and we decided to try their hummus. As there are few branches of Ali caravan (Abu we went to the first and the original branch of the restaurant in 1st. Hadolphin st. old Jaffa. A very small and simple restaurant (7 or 8 table inside, 2 tables outside and a large sidewalk where you can see people who sit and eat) Aline of at least 20 people was waitting for us to enter, and with a lot of patience, we stood outside until we hade a 4 seats table. We had the famous Mesabaha, which is hummus with tahina and hot granules of humus which mixed together to a wonderful taste. We've never had such taste of hummus or Mesabaha. Never. The best.

“Quite an experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2013

We had been recommended this place by some friends and had no idea what to expect which was a good thing to experience it as it should be! So you queue outside as there are not too many tables and you have to double up with strangers! We were three and were appointed a table with a fellow who was finishing up but then they let someone else sit down after he left almost immediately. We could tell he was a pro so we watched and waited to see what he ordered and what he did with his food! Basically there are 2 types of humus plate, a pile of pitta bread and drinks. I made the mistake of asking for falafel, which they don't serve:) This is a place to come when you are starving! One humus plate is humus and tehina the other is the same with large brown beans. These come with a small glass of olive oil mixed with garlic and lemon juice that you pour over the humus plate - delicious but not for the faint hearted as it is a lot of pitta bread and humus to deal with. The second guy at our table was not impressed with our eating skills to say the least and he totally wiped clean his plate to show us how it is done!
