My husband and I stayed at Zamzam towers Amman for 8 nights (August 2011). It was an OK experience but mostly unpleasant. The hotel is rated 4 stars but we think the management needs to make plenty of improvements.
To start with the positive things: First, the staff was very helpful (although not necessarily friendly). They responded to most of our requests. i.e, there was no iron or kettle in the room. When we asked for them, they instantly provided. We asked to be transfered to another room, they did it on the spot. Second, the hotel is not cheap but is cheaper than some other 4 star hotels. When there were few guests in the hotel, they delivered the breakfast to our room as there was no open buffet.
As for the things that annoyed us: we had to change rooms because the reception accommodated a family with children right next to us when the hotel was empty and they could have placed them a little further from our room. The walls are too thin that we could hear the baby crying and people opening and closing closets. So we spent a sleepless night till they moved us to another floor. The shower in our new room was poor. You would get 30 seconds of hot water followed by 2 minutes of very cold water before you get hot water again. My husband caught a flu as a result. Breakfast was a great disappointment. In the first two days, they delivered it to our room as there were no guests. As more guests checked in, the hotel arranged a very small buffet. It consisted of cucumber, tomatoes, beans, poorly cooked sausages, cheese, old cakes and one type of very dry bread. There was only one type of artificial and very sugary juice. There was a basket of few dusty fruit and they never changed it.
Also the internet is free but we had no accees as there were some communication problems and when we complained the staff did nothing about it. As for the TV channels, there were no cable channels: just 12 local channels which blows any opportunity of relaxing a bit in front of the TV. The cafe in the lobby was always closed so we had no opportunity to relax anywhere other than our bedroom. Finally the furniture was a bit old and scratched although according to the reception, Zamzam Towers Amman opened about 18 months ago.
Overall it was an OK experience. we did not enjoy it though and We will not come back to the same hotel.
