“Good value for money”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

As the Toledo was full on our return from Petra, we stayed at these apartments. Good value for money, reception staff was good and supportive, lounge is comfortable, but everyone in Jordan smokes right where they stand, so for non-smokers a bit over-powering as with all hotels and restaurants. Even when you are trying to sleep, the smoke permeates from around the other apratments, but until they change the law nothing can be done about that. Good kitchenette, clean towels, good bellboy, didnt even expect a tip!
However, an unpleasant incident occured on our last night there, I was returning with a purchase from KFC 10 min walk away at8.30pm, and a car pulled up near me, cut off my handbag and went off with it, was done so well, my KFC bags were still in my hands intact. Police were called and Manager of Barakat apartments at the time, supporte us through the whole incident and let me call the UK without charge to cancel my cards and let me use his computer to cancel my mobile phone package. The hotel across from the apartments, had the whole incident on camera so I hope he gets caught. Police refused to give us any documents as proof of mugging, so we went to the Police station before our flight in the morning and the senior officer gave us a short letter in Arabic. Lucky our passports and documents were not in the bag.... YUCK!
I know this can happen anywhere, but would ask guests to be cautious and dont go out solo.

Room Tip: It is a very quiet area so all rooms are good for 'sleep', shame there is no option of break...

We had travelled with family to Amman for a couple of days before going down to Petra & the Dead Sea. The front desk was very helpful despite the late hour of arrival. We had booked a two bedroom apartment, the rooms were spacious with a small lounge for the family to have a gathering in and functional kitchenette which was great for making breakfast before heading out for the day.

However, the cleanliness was questionable for the whole apartment. The plates, cups & cutlery in the kitchen were all a bit greasy and I had the wash them again. The sofas in the living area had tired upholstery. The bed was fine though. However, the bathroom was the worst part of the whole apartment, it was terrible need of a thorough clean, starting from the WC to the shower cubicle. There was a musty smell at all times and the floor had lots of small insects and ants. I cringed every time I visited the loo!
The prices were nowhere close to budget though( but to be fair, it was. Loser to Christmas & Amman is quite expensive anyways!) but for that price I would definitely expect a decent level of housekeeping service.

So while the rest of the stay was ok, I would not go back to this hotel apartments because of the bathroom. I had previously read other reviews regarding the bathroom and had requested a clean one, but it was totally ignored.

If you need a place to stay in Amman I can recommend Barakat Hotel Apartments. A good price for what you get. The rooms are comfortable, clean and have free WiFi. There is a kitchenette that you can use for cooking with a supermarket close by (Safeway). The JETT bus service is a 5 minute cab ride away (2 JOD) for travelling to Petra.

This is a safe friendly place convenient for Safeway, unions and culture streets nearby where cafes and cultural events take place. Taxis to most destinations are no more than 3 JOD. Receptionists were very helpful in advising us regarding various issues. Free safe in the office, coffee machine and a pleasant patio in the front. The studio was very well equipped we got sheets, towels and toiletries. The kitchenette is adequately equipped, with a modern microwave, gas hob, fridge and utensils. They even gave us washing up liquid and dish sponge. Bathroom is roomy, shower is great. There are nearly a thousand TV stations including BBCworld, CNN, Chinese TV, Japanese TV, Aljazeera, France24 and more all in the English language. You need to use the dvd control to change the channels, changing the volume is also from the same control (left and right arrows). If you need the room cleaned and sheets changed everyday then you need to ask. We left our big suitcase at the hotel and went to petra. The location is convenient for business and leisure, therefore close to major roads. The downside is noise of traffic.

Room Tip: Our Studio was 403, south facing good for winter

When my wife and I return to Amman, we'll be back here. We had a 1 bedroom apartment with a small kitchenette and a small refrigerator. The room was clean and well maintained, but they only appear to clean when asked to. We had it done every other day. The front desk staff were just terrific, very nice and worked hard to meet our needs. The Safeway Supermarket is exactly 5 minutes walk away as is Fitness First gym. The TV has very few channels and only 1 English channel CNN, but other than that, this was good value for our needs. This was not a problem as we downloaded movies to our computer or streamed in radio from our home country. We'd definitely stay here again.

We had a 10 days stay at this cozy, clean and quiet apartment. You get a great value for your money. The staff are so friendly and responsive. Cleaning is on daily basis or upon request. Underground hotel private parking and self service laundry if needed. Reasonably equipped kitchen but the staff will provide you with anything extra tableware if needed. Walking distance to Safeway and restaurants. Less than 15 minutes to downtown Amman and easy access to all major highways. Internet and WiFi access upon request. Hot water and heat 24hours. We will come back and stay again in this place for sure ....

Room Tip: Higher floors and back rooms have less street noise.
