We had a beautiful wander round The Citadel last Saturday morning. The wild flowers and butterflies enhanced the atmosphere, and we went first thing in the morning before it got too busy. The artefacts in the museum added to the sense of history. Highly recommended.

Our guide was most excited to tell us all about the history of the Citadel. Views from up there are amazing, but it's all the ruins that engage the mind and the senses. It's a wonderful way to learn regional history and see the ruins up close.

On top of Jabal al-Qal’a, lies this ancient site. It is in downtown area but as I got there by car not sure if there’s any public transport available except for taxi. Windy at the time but there’s a breathtaking view of Amman. Instagrammable, with Temple of Hercules as the highlight

it is an amazing place downtown. Large edification form Roman site and even a partly reconstructed Byzantine church. Worth to spent 3 hours over there.

This primarily Roman site is atop the highest point in the city. Great views in every direction, spectacular. As well as the Romans you can see evidence of the whoe history of Jordan form the Stone Age onwards. The little museum is newly laid aout and packed with well displayed information and artefacts.
There are info boards outside as well and a guide is not really required although there ares some available.
Nice coffee shop too.
Note that the Dead Sea Scrolls are no longer kept here but in the main museum in Amman
