We selected this hotel because was in front of Haram, took bit time to locate but very easy access, just follow path to Safwa complex and right after main entrance in front of Haram take accelerators to 3rd floor and the hotel front desk is in the end of the passage.
rooms were tidy and clean, and morning breakfast was generous with plenty of variety, specially order to cook omelette.
There is Mosque on floor facing Haram , which perform prayers with Haram and connected to Haram's sound system, good for ladies and elderly peoples who cant go to Haram for every prayer.
WiFi is available and free

Room Tip: chose room if available with partial view of Haram

Alhamdulillah we performed Umrah in March 2014. This hotel was amazing. I loved how it opened into the courtyard of the Haram! Its very convenient to be able to get to the Masjid quickly, especially when the rush before Salaah starts.

Also, the hotel food was amazing! Breakfast buffet had a lot of variety and awesome food. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed (lots of tea, coffee, and water bottles. They even had an adapter) The hotel is nicely situated and you have easy access to food, shopping, and most importantly, the Haram. Overall great service, and a fantastic experience. JazakAllahu Khairan! :)

Room Tip: If you don't want to hear noises from construction, choose a room on the other side.

Alhamdulillah we performed Umrah in June 2013 from Dar Al Ghufran. During our 5 days in Makkah we learnt many things through trial and error which we would like to pass on to others to make their stay a little easier so I hope you find these tips useful inshaa Allah. Nice hotel, modern and clean. Excellent location few minutes from Abdul Aziz gate (although if you want air conditioned area to pray go through the smaller gates 93 and 94 just left of the main gate). Breakfast was hearty and excellent. If you are tea drinkers – be warned they only give you 2 mugs per room no matter how many people the room is for...and you won’t get any extra no matter how much you ask – bit of a let down for a 5* hotel to be so petty.

The hotel is within a shopping complex and there is a vast food court with many varieties of food so you never really need to venture out for food. The lift service is very efficient although can get confusing! When you get in the lift from your room don’t press the button ‘M’ for ‘mosque. Rather go down to the lobby then get out of lift and cross over to the lifts opposite to the ground floor. Then it is just a short walk to the Haram.

Rooms: We booked a triple room but when we arrived we found 2 comfy beds and one more like a sofa bed (very poor quality and looked like it has just been wheeled in) so we had to speak to reception a few times before they changed our room to a quad room with three proper beds. Speak to the reception on day shift as in night shift they don’t have the authority. Day shift people a lot more helpful. We were in a room which had another building right nextdoor so we had no daylight into the room. I found this very claustrophobic. Good quality room, spacious and very nice bathroom with twin sinks. Power shower – excellent when you come from the heat and humidity of outdoors.

Housekeeping, concierge and porters are all very kind and helpful. Wifi connection is free which was really handy. Also, we bought zamzam from hotel concierge to bring back to UK. They were very efficient. You can buy in airport for half the price but you get what you pay for – when we opened the one purchased at airport it had a label saying ‘Pakistan 2008’ so basically it was someones leftover zamzam from 5 years ago!

Tip: Don’t arrive by car near prayer time as the road to hotel entrance is blocked. Our taxi had to drop us farther out and as the Hotel name is not written anywhere (it is within the Al Safah Towers) it is almost near impossible to find the first time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view otherwise you have no daylight in the room.

This is a great hotel to stay in during your pilgrimage to makkah(in fact the other 2 hotels royal orchid and dar el eiman in the same building as well). it is excellently situated with a jammat khana, supermarket and foodcourt that boasts a variety of food option(It is expensive however). 1. Check in - was excellent. we arrived early and were given out room after a short wait. The check in staff Yusuf was a wonderful person to deal with. He was friendly and helpful and treated us with respect even though we were non arabs. This was the best check in experience i have encountered in my visits thus far. he should be nominated for employee of the month. 2. rooms - the rooms are well layed out, excellent bedding and bathrooms. Very comfortable as one would expect for a 5 star establishment. 3. housekeeping - absolutely excellent. rooms cleaned daily at 10:30 like clockwork. 4, breakfast- was good. There is some room for improvement with respect to the variety of foods. they should have some fish as well. there is an egg station with a chef as well which is very nice. pastries and cakes were very well made.5. concierge- was very helpful. Usman in particular was really a great help during checkout and check in and should be given an employee of the month.

Overall it was a wonderful stay. great access to the haram especially if you travelling with elderly and old people who require wheel chair access to the haram.

We stayed at Dar Al-Gufran during Umrah trip and absolutely superb place in all amenities. So close to Al-Haram, convenient to go back and forth to Al-Haram any time of the day. Short walk from lobby down few escalators and you are just outside al-Hararm. Excellent breakfast buffet of huge varieties of all types of international foods and great. Overall service is what you expected from 5 star hotel with daily change of linens and daily replenishment of room amenities. People are friendly, efficient and they make everything hassle free for their guests.Very neat & clean hotel , we enjoyed over there, definatly the hotel I wiil choose again and highly recommended.
