“Rundown 5* Hotel”
Reviewed 5 February 2013

It was arundown 5 star hotel. Staff was good and check in & out was quick. Breakfast was full of variety but tasteless. Roomm size is average and decoration was moderate. Bedsheets & towels were clean. bed and pillows were good. The location of the hotel is also rundown but has medium quality Indian and Pakistani restaurants.

I've spent over a week in Riyadh Palace and I got one of the renovated rooms. The room itself is clean and spacious. What I liked the most is the "Rain" shower head. The water pressure is strong and the water heats in seconds.

The buffet is also not bad. The variety becomes repetitive from day to day but I cannot complain about it.

Service was very good and make sure you ask for your internet code if you want to get wifi !

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room !

Visited Riyadh on an official trip from 22nd to 28th Sept 2012. Stayed in this five star hotel located among Indian and pakistani establishments. Perhaps the hotel is owned by an expat Indian and it shows in its hospitality, cuisine, and homeliness for visitors of Indian subcontinent.

Room is medium sized but comfortable. You get fruit basket on arrival. Sealed water , two bottles, are provided per day complimentary.

The food is awesome if you are a non veg. Particularly the chicken, shrimp, and egg items tasted like perfect Indian dishes. The Khabsa rice and shrimp curry was too good.

The Jim and spa area was excellent and very relaxing. Swimming pool was good for unwinding.

Good value for money and very good experience.

Riyadh Palace hotel is a very nice hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They had excellent customer service skills. The rooms are a little small, but well appointed, comfortable, and clean. there was a fridge, but not items in it- no biggie- but they provided an electric kettle, tea and coffee. Room service was prompt and the food was very good. The restaurant offered a buffet, but no individual items, that I noted- but the food was great with a great variety..
I would definitely stay there again.

The experience in this hotel will largely depend on your expectations from Saudi hospitality. In general, hotels in Saudi have pretty low hospitality levels. People just aren't responsive enough and you have to follow-up a lot of times.

So if you are used to it, you will find this hotel good value for money. The rooms are clean. If you are gonna be at work and are just going to sleep in the room and not use the facilities the hotel should do just fine.

On the whole an average hotel.

This hotel is struggling to maintain its alleged stardom.
Used extensively by a local airline results in a basic level of service with no real pleasantries exhibited by the staff who may have skipped out on the customer service lectures during their training.
Rooms are adequate and comfortable however the constant creaking of the structure caused by heat expansion during the day and retraction at night is quite off putting when you are wondering if the building is about to collapse!
Room service is adequate but there are a few cheaper local eateries within a few minutes stroll.
Location has nothing to offer and in house facilities are limited.
A basic gym and billiard table offer the guest a chance to escape the lack of atmosphere within.

Reasonable hotel but not a 5 star hotel by international standards. It is used by some airlines for their crew's stopover in Riyadh. The room I stayed in was very reasonable in terms of space (but both the room and the bathroom bore the signs of age or "use"). Unfortunately, the room was not well sound-proof, as I could hear the noise from outside also at night. A good plus was a reliable and fast wireless internet service (fast at least in my room), provided free and with new daily passwords. The room aircon facility worked very well, a must in a place with such a hot climate. No breakfast included but at least an electric cattle in the room with tea bags and coffee sachets to make your own tea or coffee. Nearby, just a 1-2 minute walk, are a few restaurants and fast food facilities. Hotel staff were polite and helpful.
