Conveniently located in the city, and a good place to spend a few hours if you need to distract the kids - a nice change from inside the malls.
In general, the animals all seem clean and well cared for - with most having pretty sizable enclosures to wander about in. The zoo grounds are pretty clean, and reasonably well maintained.
Bring a blanket and sandwiches as there are plenty of grassy areas to picnic!
Unfortunately, some locals don't really know how to appreciate and respect nature - Watching as they threw soft-drink cans into the chimpanzees, or toss their water bottles into enclosures to get a reaction out of the various animals left me questioning which side of the fence I ought to be on. It would have been nice if the zoo staff stepped in on such occasions, but sadly, no! Fortunately, you're not witnessing such stupid antics at every enclosure, so the visit won't be completely ruined.
Other than the silly antics above, a great day with the kids!
Don't go after it rains!!! Phewwww, stiiiinky!!!!
