I stayed in the Delmon fifteen years ago and even back then the place was "off limits" to US military personnel stationed in Bahrain due to the very open prostitution activities. After fifteen years not a lot has changed and I agree with most of the writers below. The place is a paradox with guests running the gamut from debauched Saudis, single westerners looking for a good time, Indian families with kids and a few people interested in the location. By light of day the place is a fairly normal, inexpensive Middle Eastern hotel in an interesting older section of Manama. After dark takes on a different personality with drunks, prostitutes, vomit and all the things that go with that. If one is not interested in such activities its easy to avoid by not frequenting any of the hotel's bars.
As other writers have described the hotel was probably the best in Bahrain many years ago and it still has a touch of that left with some nice arches and ceilings but the rooms are the real plus as they are very large have high ceilings with nice beds and TV's. I thought the breakfast buffet was quite nice and fun to watch the other guests in varying degrees of dementia from their previous evenings activities. An interesting place for sure.More
