“Not too bas but also not too good”
Reviewed 18 January 2014

Room a bit old with poor and slow wi-fi connection. Not expensive, but it need to be renovated quite soon. The personnel is very kind and available.
Breackfast of good quality also if the selection is limited to not a lot of things.

the hotel is rather old in terms of rooms - my one had probably the most noisy air condition i ever heard, thus, i turned it down and never used it (not that bad in the wintertime, but in the summer this must be a problem in tehran). walls, furniture and bathroom are fine, but more than a little worn already with traces of mould in the bathroom. no kettle for tea/coffee in the "king´s room", and a very poor buffet breakfast. wiffi is just a torture - aside of blocking many european news websites (whch is an issue in the whole country) it is slow and unstable that there no chance to send emails longer than few words, and as for browsing - just forget it.
the staff is nice and polite, though, and the pool and fitness is above average - only there is a fluctuating schedule for men only and women only a) days and b) hours, thus make sure you check it in the reception the day before you want to do something for your health - the information in the room booklet does not help / is not accurate.

The hotel from outside is OK. The room is old fashioned style. I was there when the outside temp is around 15 Celcius and the room air con can only be turned on to heater, the cool function is not working. They told this is 4 star hotel, but inside the room, there is no kettle for making hot water. And even there is no complimentary mineral water (there is, but you have to pay). The receptionist can't speak English, just very very little. I have booked the room with breakfast for 5 nights and when check out in the morning I have to pay 2x breakfast and I complained. They said I have to pay first and they will check with the manager later. It means I have to back to hotel, lucky that other of my friends are still staying for one night so they got the reimburse money. I am not so happy with this hotel, the location is also not good as there is heavy traffic if you go on the morning on office hour and back on office end hour. The closer mini market is to walk down for around 300 m. The nearby venues are kebab restaurant, roasted chicken restaurant. Walk up is to a big garden, but nothing there. Walk down is toward a cinemaplex. Breakfast is bad, only few choose and same every day. The TV did not function at all.

I have been a regular visitor to Tehran over the years but was visiting again again after some time. it is clear that during that gap Iranian hotels have moved up a notch. The friendliness in Iran is always guaranteed and The Simorgh is no exception. My room was spacious and well equipped and the breakfast was both plentiful and varied. As with all of my stays in Iran the willingness to please and make your stay a happy one was evident at this hotel too. The location is also first class and there are many nice shops nearby and yet it is quite a restful and peaceful setting. I will definitely stay here again and would like to extend my thanks for the staff at the hotel for making this Englishman's stay both a comfortable and a memorable one.

The hotel is situated in a perfect location on Vali-asr avenue, right in the border of ancient Tehran in south, and modern Tehran in north. Thanks to express buses you can easily reach southern quarters of the city where The Famous Bazaar and breathtaking museums are situated, while by going towards north you can visit more modern and push streets of the capital. Surprisingly, in winter by less than 20 minutes taxi riding you can reach the Tochal Ski Resort, which is fabulous.
One of the most famous iranian restaurants called Nayeb is located right accross the street where you can taste the real iranian Koobideh Kebab.
The hotel staff are really nice, sociable and helpful. Effectively, every body in hotel knows English.

Room Tip: Try to choose rooms in higher floors

Comfortable! Good access to the city by Bus Rapid Transportation, Park, and shopping center. If the rooms and facilities being re-arranged or refurnished would be better. Staffs are nice and helpful. But don't count on Internet! It's terrible...

Stayed at this hotel from 4th Nov to 7th Nov. Overall the stay was comfortable but the rooms are not well planned and require to be done up a bit. Good location in the center of the city. The internet needs boosting. Not acessible in rooms but very good in the lobby.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are not very convinient.
