The hotel used to be extremely nice and they personnel extremely polite but sadly in the past year they have become ruder and ruder every time. I used to suggest this hotel to everybody now I caution people from going there. Sadly there aren't too many alternatives in Tehran with better service. The "big hotels" are government owned and hence pretty much the same customer attention as this one.

My first and only trip to Iran could never be this sweet without seeing Esfahan. Staying at Melal Hotel made it even sweeter. The Hotel is located just across the Zayandrood river and enjoys a unique view of the River itself and two of the most famous historical bridges over it. It is also quite close to some of the historical sights and shopping areas.
The customer service is quite efficient and the crew are so friendly. You can start your day with a plentiful breakfast in its calm restaurant and finish it with a delirious Iranian dinner.
The rooms are clean and reqularly serviced, and all enjoy fast speed wifi.
I experienced a very peaceful and sweet time in Melal Hotel and recommend it to all those eager tourists who wish to have a sweet taste of stay in beautiful Esfahan, Iran.

Melal Apartment Hotel in Tehran has been my beloved home away from home in Iran over many months the past few years. Best hotel staff ever, spacious rooms with funny kitsch furniture gives a homely old fashioned feel and I just love the view of the mountains.
The rooms on the Naaseri Road side offer better ambience and view than the rooms facing the back that overlook an office building. Limited and typical Iranian menu for in-room dining (kebab, hamburger or spaghetti) salads pre-drenched with dressing. The hotel happily assists with home delivery from nearby restaurants and puts the bill on your tab, the slightly pricy Golden Dragon is my favorite Chinese takeout. A roof top restaurant is open in the summer but food is average, ambience is zero and does not offer good value for money. Hotel drivers are friendly and efficient when picking you up from the airport but the general standard of the cars is low. Taxis to anywhere can be prepaid by the reception and when arriving by taxi the hotel can pay the driver and put the expense on the room bill which makes life very easy. Breakfast is a good buffet for Iranian standard and the breakfast room is nice with a view of the garden and small often drained swimming pool. Background music in the breakfast room offers endless entertainment and always makes me wonder where they have found it, There is a small gym area and a sauna but I have never seen anyone use those facilities including the small pool in the garden.
Melal staff are excellent and do their best to make you feel at home, in 30 years of business travel around the world I can safely say they are in the top of the league.

Went to tehran on a business trip - stayed at Melal Hotel -

Location was good - b/w two major arteries - Africa Boulverad and Vali Asr Avenue.

The hotel decor was nice - a little to plush giving it a gawdy look.

Rooms were spacious, comfy but a bit overtly decorated.

Its a hotel apartment - so all the facilties were there...kitchen, washing machine etc...

Wifi free - TV was filtered so only channels available were bbc, cnn, aljazeerah english and a number of local channels.

Breakfast was good -

Great neighbourhood - good weather -

Gym was very basic with just two treadmills and a pair of dumbells

Price too steep! Have to pay in cash only.

Melal Apartment hotel is a small hotel located in a narrow lane in north Tehran. Excellent hospitality by hotel staff. Apartment equipped with kitchen and living room. Sometimes apartment space looks quite excess than required for a solo traveller. Nice breakfast and free wireless internet. If payment is to be made by credit card, hotel reception need to be informed in advance.

Hotel is pretty dated (but not old) and basic. However, it is a good location.
A room on the river side is absolutely a must, though!
Room we had was big and reasonably comfortable. Breakfast is unimaginative but plentiful if you like boiled eggs, dates and tomatoes. Helpful and generally friendly on the desk.
Wifi in the lobby, no charge.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. My reservation was made by my hotel in Shiraz few days earlier. The room was ready when I arrived. My room was large, well furnished and clean. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. The hotel is on the river and has nice views if you are on that side. It is a bit away from the main attractions but there are plenty of taxis around and the staff will arrange one for you. Shopping streets are at awalking distance.
