I'll start off by saying that my experience at the JW Marriott Kuwait was not bad, but my "average" rating of the experience is based on the fact that it's supposed to be a five-star hotel.
The hotel itself looked and felt like something out of the 1980s. The rooms were clean and spacious, but the decor left a lot to be desired. High-speed internet access was available, but only in wired form in the rooms. A business-oriented hotel should be equipped with wireless high-speed internet in guest rooms (wireless was available in public spaces).
Also, for the first few days of my stay, my non-smoking room smelled like cigarette smoke. I don't know if it was the previous guest or the HVAC system, but it was really only until I turned off the A/C that the smell left. The cigarette smoke continued in the lobby of the building, where smoking was very much encouraged.
The service, in general, was very good. Some of the staff was very prompt and courteous, others were less professional, though they all tried to be accommodating.
The restaurants were subpar for this level of a hotel - average food at expensive prices. The breakfast at the main hotel restaurant was the best part of it, followed by the Japanese restaurant for lunch. The service for the room service was good, but the selection of food was small.
Overall, it is a decent hotel - a pretty good three-star business hotel, but not worthy of the JW Marriott brand.
