Al Bastaki International Hotel

I moved in this hotel as booked by my office.
The room initially allotted was very small. The rooms are equipped with internet but not a wifi and with wired connection. No luck in connecting the mobiles. But the nightmare started when I found out the internet not working from very first day evening. After repeated complaint, the internet was not available in the room for next three days. After a threat of moving out and finally interference from office facilities team, I was been allotted a bigger decent room. One of my colleague was been allotted a room which is as small as a servant quarter. Though the rate of the room is same, but my colleague just got scared to see the room… just horrible.
The location of the hotel is not that great as there are not much of food joints around the hotel. Only one Indian restaurant and a couple of hooka bars are all in the vicinity. So guests are left with very minimal option about dinner. The hotel serves food, but no option for vegetarians. Also as the hotel is not located in a prime location, somehow it was tough many a times to get a taxi for going anywhere.
The rent of the hotel is not at all less compared to other hotels in and around. I have not seen the bigger rooms or they may be good, but standard rooms are just sad. Finally the hotel is suggested as not a place to stay. Spend the same money or a few more KDs to stay in a better place around

Room Tip: higher rooms has less noise of a construction going on nice view from the north side rooms

I was on a business trip to Kuwait in May 2011 and happen to stay in this property. My first hand experience with this hotel was not so nice since the person who was there in to pick me at airport was not hotel staff and was a public taxi driver who was not even bothered to carry the placard with correct spelling of my name.

The car sent was no better than Indica if I compare it to Indian cars. The ride was almost 30-40 minutes from airport to city.

As soon as I entered the hotel lobby it was well decorated with very small desk on one side which will take you 30 seconds to locate. The front desk will not take much time and will direct you towards your room.

The room was not good enough for the price they were charging. It was not even well kept though the room I got was having a small balcony with amazing view of flyovers.

I will not recommend this hotel if you want to stay there for more than a day.

Room Tip: Atlest take room with balcony which is 10 QR expensive than normal.

I had a horrible expereince of staying in Safir Al Bastaki last year. The room was sall and there was a balcony, not at all clean. No floor mats, dirty bed sheets and atinky smel. There was no power plug points and internet cable. Internet was free, but won't work, when I companied, one old person came - looks like a labouror came out from a pile of sand.. He spend hours in the room and finally put a long cable inside the room which stopped my free movement. Finally internet was working. I couldn't sleep for one night and next day I checked out and letf that place as early as I can.
