“Lousy to the n'th degreee”
Reviewed 20 June 2013

So much potential yet wasted.
Hate doing this but the experience needs to be shared for the unsuspecting to be forewarned.
Imagine arriving at the front desk and asking them for directions to the conference rooms. One gentleman is sitting at his facebook in the business center, the other is engrossed in some movie showing on the screen. After the gentleman watching the movie grunts and points a thumb in the direction of the other guy, who over his shoulder says there is no meeting scheduled. I insist, he checks. He says ok go out turn right and right. I follow directions. 1st right is a service yard, so that's not it. second right has a beauty salon and a barber and a tiny door blocked by a cement block. Hmmm that can't be it either. I retrace my steps back to the reception. I now insist that they show me where it is as it is some 40 degrees outside, I'me wearing a suit and carrying stuff for the seminar. Finally and grudgingly the man watching the movie tears himself away and proceeds to ever so slowly show me to the door that was blocked by the cement block. Oh he says, the lift is out of order. He opens the fire escape door and I climb the 2 stifling stories to the meeting center. Enough said
It's saving grace is apparently the health club which has a strong customed
Had a 2 day conference and could not wait to get out. Service lousy. Meeting center dilapidated, badly designed and very badly attended.
Food left on the table from morning break through out the day until the end of the seminar
The rooms are big, which is good, the decor is questionable, the beds are brilliant but might as well have been sleeping on the floor they were so hard.
Oh and the food, wel at least there was a Starbucks in the building

We stayed here in winter 2011/12 and had several one-bedroom suites that all had the necessary amenities like kitchen, sitting room, king size bedroom and a rather small bathroom. It just had a shower-in-tub. Entry from an outside walkway. Both units were very dark, living room curtains had to stay closed because of the walk way. Our experience was that we were staying in a very dated place in dire need of renovation, to keep up with the nicely done pool area and the wide beach. To get to the beach and spa area you had to walk through the hotel gym and a turn style.
We tried the spa massage and it was okay...average. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, service was good. We did not eat any other meals there. There is a nice independent bistro in front and a Starbucks. This place appears to be popular with large groups, conferences and weekend weddings, when it gets quite crowded. We would most likely stay elsewhere in Kuwait if we return.

Stayed at The Palms as I was attending a conference in the Al Hashemi II Baalroom at the Radisson (which is undergoing complete renovation) as it was recommended to me by a partner as the closest option. What shall I say? It looks quite good when you enter the lobby, but then when you see the buildings with the rooms/suites - well they surely have seen better times. To reach the entrance to my building I had to walk around the backside of the beach club (spa and gym) where the ACs and the kitchens are.
For the room/suite it was pretty big but also somewhat strange. When you entered you had a closet to the left and the bathroom to the right. Then on the left you had a kitchenette while directly oposite was a niche with the bed and then finally a spacious living-/dining room with TV, sofa, dining table and desk. The floor in the room was completely tiled, which does not really make a comfortable athmosphere.
The bathroom also was a bit aged with some stains here and there. Breakfast was color and tasteless without any variations.
For the same price I could have stayed at the Regency five minutes down the road.

Room Tip: Choose any rooms. I did not find any issues.

We stayed here for a short spring holiday. We were 3 adults and 3 children so I booked a 2 bedroom suite. The site was spacious and comfortable but it only had one bathroom and it needed a major renovation. The kitchen and bathroom were old and grimey. The fixtures all needed updating and showed signs of overuse. The bathroom shower had very bad pressure and the hot water would come and go. The dark paint they used made the suite seem smaller than it was. The hotel is on the beach but didn't seem inviting as the water looked murky. The pool was very well maintained and the kids loved it. The gym was also very nice and large. The kids play room was a nice feature but we didn't use it because it smelled of urine. At check on the hotel manager was very nice and made us feel welcome. The daily breakfast was good with egg station. Like everything in Kuwait I felt this hotel was overpriced but relatively speaking it was fine for families with small kids

The hotel is on the sea with a beach, and 2 outdoor pools. They have a nice and large Gym. The food is very good, breakfast and dinner. Their outdoor barbecue was excellent. Also good service from the staff, especially Mr Adham at reception. The rooms are capacious (mini suites), with kitchen and lobby. My only concern is that feels old, all the stuff needs to be updated, rooms, pools...etc. . It is like the older hotels 15 years ago (although kept in good shape but It is not a fancy hotel.)

Room Tip: sea view rooms

This is probably the best hotel to stay if you are planning to visit Kuwait city but also have some beach time. Very familiar, but also very cool, with great people working there, it has the best beach of the region.
It has also the Orchid Spa! Perfect!!
