“Best for Backpackers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 October 2013 via mobile

I stayed here after coming across their website through Google. The place was easy enough to find and the dorm room was as you find in most places. The staff were able to handle what I asked of them, although the staff in the attached cafe aren't as helpful. Ought free wifi and breakfast smothers is not much are you can ask for. Location is good as there are plenty of things near by. It's also close to a bus stop to error the bus station that take ou north if you wish to go to somewhere like Byblos for the day. If I were to return to Beirut I would stay again.

This place has great facilities (rooftop bar is a must), and it is in a great location. However, the staff let it down dramatically. If you get anymore than a grunt you are doing well, which is a shame because the place has great potential.

There aren't many budget options in Beirut and Saifi gardens is the best option for a hostel. It's cool and very hipster, with its artsy exterior, cafe, and rooftop bar.

It's a great place to go with a group of friends, as I found this to be the most common way ppl travel to Beirut. Not many solo travelers and not much socializing.

The rooms are basic hostel-type rooms, but clean. But I found the service to be, ehh. I asked questions and needed help but it felt like I was pulling teeth. It was weird to have to ask for so much information without it being suggested or given to me.

The breakfast was good (and included) and I was given a voucher for a free drink at the bar.

I'm not sure if I would go back again. Maybe if I didn't have other cheap options.

the location is very good (in the heart of cool gemmayzhe), but the room are very noisy because of the road passing a few meters (literally!) from the rooms and a bar with live music. The bar is however nice, and it serves good dishes and cocktails and it helps in giving a charming atmosphere. The rooms are no more than sufficient. I spent 1 week there and sometimes the water was cold and the air conditioning did not work. The staff (exluded cleaners) is unpolite, rude, not at all helpful. I'd advise the saifi urban gardens only for under 30 backpackers and not for more than a few days.

We stayed at Saifi for five nights and it was a great experience. The staff is very helpful and the vibe perfect! The rooms are clean and spacious and there are plenty of common rooms where you can hang around. There is also a very nice rooftop bar and cafe downstairs where you can eat lebanese cuisine while playing backgammon. It's also very well located, just in between Gemmayze and Mar Mikhel, which are the two places you definitely should not miss when you want to go bar hopping. To sum up, if you're planning to stay in Beirut do not hesitate to book this hostel!

Room Tip: Choose building no 2 which is much more comfortable and less noisy.

I stayed at Saifi Urban Gardens for five nights. I flew in to Beirut at 2am and arrived at the hotel in Gemmayze (very central location) at 3am. I was pleased that a very helpful member of staff was able to meet me at the hotel to check-in at such a difficult hour.

On the whole I enjoyed my stay at Saifi. The room in which I slept was spacious and very clean, and the hotel’s public spaces were very well kept. Members of staff (especially the cleaning staff) were courteous and friendly. Breakfast was of a good quality, though I had my morning meal at the hotel only on one occasion.

And this brings me to a flaw: Breakfast was served too late in the morning (8am). However, I understand that the hotel attracts a very young clientele, so I can see the merits in an 8am start.

Also, Saifi is not the best option for those people who intend to read (in peace) in the evening. Saifi hosts a number of social events on most nights of the week. This essentially means that the hotel’s public spaces can be very noisy, and the sound always travels to other parts of the hotel. However, as I said, Saifi attracts young travellers. So for those young travellers who wish to visit Beirut, I would certainly recommend Saifi Urban Gardens.
